A 2019 aBlogtoWatch retrospective reported that the Traveller collection was discontinued shortly after this GMT model was updated in 2015; that is published retrospective reporting, not an official discontinuation notice from Girard-Perregaux. The watch draws collector interest for its travel-ready second time zone, prominent large date, and moon-phase display, arranged in a 44 mm case.
What makes the Traveller GMT distinctive?
The GMT combines a large date at 12 o’clock, a moon-phase display near 7 o’clock, and a second-time-zone indicator between 4 and 5. A dedicated pusher advances the second-time-zone indicator in one-hour increments, so it can be adjusted separately in hourly steps. The layout keeps the travel function distinct from the main time display while giving the date a prominent position.

It followed the original Traveller Large Date and Moon Phases, which did not have the GMT display. Hodinkee’s March 26, 2013 launch report describes that earlier arrangement: large date at 12, moon phase and small seconds at 7, and a power-reserve indicator near 4:30. WorldWatchReview’s October 30, 2014 account describes the GMT configuration replacing that power-reserve display with a second-time-zone indicator. The sources therefore document the Traveller’s development across more than one layout, rather than a single unchanging model.
When was it made, and is it discontinued?
The published chronology is not entirely consistent. Hodinkee covered the original Traveller in March 2013; aBlogtoWatch’s November 23, 2019 retrospective says the collection arrived in 2014, identifies the GMT model as updated to its reference in 2015, and reports that the collection was discontinued shortly afterward. These are the dates and characterization reported by those publications, not a manufacturer-confirmed production history.

- Girard Perregaux caliber GP03300, beats at 28,800 vph (4Hz), composed out of 419 parts, contains 63 Jewels & has an approximate power reserve of 46 hours.
- Power reserve: Min. 46 hours
For a prospective buyer, the practical takeaway is that this is a discontinued model rather than a current-production Traveller. The articles establish neither current inventory nor present market value.
What movement and specifications does it use?
Specifications depend on the edition. WorldWatchReview’s October 30, 2014 listing gives the GMT model an automatic GP03300-0093 movement with 35 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 46-hour power reserve. It lists a 44.00 mm case diameter, 12.10 mm thickness, sapphire crystal and caseback, and water resistance to 100 metres. That source reports steel and rose-gold cases, with off-white, opaline silvered, and galvanic black dial variants.

- Brushed stainless steel case with polished finished beveled corners.
- Silver dial has a Clou de Paris Guilloche pattern. Black sub-dials
- GP Movement Caliber GP03300
- Water resistance depth: 100.0 meters
- Case diameter: 42.0 millimeters
For the transparent-dial editions covered by Time and Watches on June 17, 2015, the listed caliber is GP 03300-0109, with the same reported 44 mm diameter, 12.10 mm thickness, 100 m water resistance, and 46-hour reserve. The differing caliber suffixes are a reason to check the exact reference and documentation rather than assume every Traveller GMT has one movement designation.
How does the large date work?
Time and Watches describes the transparent-dial edition’s large date as two superimposed discs. One disc is made from transparent material 0.10 mm thick; the construction produces a date display without an obvious dividing line through the numerals. The transparent dial makes the mechanism visible, while the date remains the visual anchor at 12.
Rank #3
- Girard Perregaux Caliber GP08400, beats at 21,600 (3 Hz) vph, composed out of 208 parts, contains 29 Jewels & has an approximate power reserve of 48 hours
- The balance wheel is secured in place by a black PVD coated bridge at 6 o'clock. The generous proportions of the balance wheel (10.15mm in diameter) makes it less subject to disturbances and thus more accurate.
- The micro-rotor is located to the top left of the movement, while the main-spring barrel is located to the right side for a symmetrical design.
That detail belongs specifically to the transparent-dial edition described in 2015. It should not be assumed to describe every dial variant in the Traveller GMT family.
What are the reference numbers?
Time and Watches identifies two transparent-dial references in its June 17, 2015 coverage:
Rank #4
- Girard Perregaux Caliber GP01800, beats at 21,600 vph, composed out of 191 parts, contains 28 Jewels & has an approximate power reserve of 54 hours.
- Power reserve: Min. 54 hours
- Blue dial with a hobnail guilloche texture
| Edition described in 2015 | Reference | Case material |
|---|---|---|
| Transparent dial | 49655-11-231-BB6A | Steel |
| Transparent dial | 49655-52-232-BB6A | Pink gold |
These reference numbers identify the two editions in that article, not every Traveller GMT variant. Confirm the reference on the specific watch and match it against its paperwork and movement; descriptions and suffixes can differ by edition.

What should you check before buying a pre-owned example?
Because the watch is reported as discontinued, a buyer is likely to encounter it through the pre-owned market. The historical articles establish the model’s features and some references, but not whether a particular listing is genuine, fairly priced, or available now. Evaluate the individual watch rather than relying on a model name alone.
Quick Recap
- Match the reference and movement: compare the case markings, paperwork, and movement documentation with the claimed edition. The 2014 and 2015 sources list different caliber suffixes.
- Assess condition and service history: request dated service records and have the watch inspected by a qualified watchmaker if its condition or operation is uncertain.
- Check completeness and seller evidence: review the papers and other included items, and ask the seller for clear, consistent documentation and photographs.
- Judge price using current evidence: compare the specific metal, reference, condition, and completeness with documented current offers or transactions. The historical retail figures above are not a valuation benchmark.
- Confirm support directly: ask Girard-Perregaux or an authorized service contact about service options for the exact watch; the cited publications do not establish current support terms.
