The NOMOS DUW 3001 and DUW 6101 are related in-house automatic neomatik movements, but they serve different watch designs: the DUW 3001 is the slimmer, no-date caliber, while the DUW 6101 adds a date display positioned at the edge of the dial and quick-adjustable in both directions. These are manufacturer-published specifications from NOMOS’s DUW 3001 caliber page and the cited DUW 6101 caliber page variant. NOMOS publishes other DUW 6101 pages with different diameter and reserve figures, so the 34.0 mm and up-to-50-hour figures should not be treated as universal specifications for every watch using that caliber family.

What is the practical difference?
DUW 3001: a slim automatic without a date
The DUW 3001’s defining distinction is its 3.2 mm height in the cited specification, which is 0.4 mm less than the cited DUW 6101 variant. It has no date function described on its caliber page, making it the straightforward choice for a NOMOS design without a date display. NOMOS lists Tangente neomatik models among the watches using it.
DUW 6101: an automatic with an edge-of-dial date
The DUW 6101 incorporates a patented date mechanism. NOMOS describes the date ring as arranged around the movement so the date can be shown at the edge of the dial. The date can be quickly corrected in either direction; NOMOS says, “The date can be set quickly and easily in both directions, with only a few turns of the crown needed for any adjustment.” One associated model is the Tangente gold neomatik 38 Update.

How to interpret DUW 6101 specifications
NOMOS’s official DUW 6101 pages do not all list the same figures: the cited variant is 34.0 mm in diameter with up to 50 hours of reserve, while other official pages list 33.0 mm and up to 42 hours, or 35.2 mm and up to 42 hours. Check the exact watch reference and its caliber version when comparing dimensions or reserve. The DUW 3001 figures above likewise refer to the cited caliber page.
What the movements share
NOMOS describes both as in-house automatic neomatik calibers using the NOMOS swing system, its in-house escapement. The brand says neomatik models achieve a slim construction by integrating components between the base plate and three-quarter plate. NOMOS also states that the neomatik rotor has 94 percent efficiency; this is a manufacturer claim, not an independent comparative test.

Both pages describe a bidirectional winding rotor. The DUW 3001 page also lists stop-seconds, a Glashütte three-quarter plate, and adjustment according to chronometer standards. The cited DUW 6101 page says the caliber is adjusted in six positions. These manufacturer descriptions do not establish that one movement is more accurate in everyday wear: the available specifications are not an independent head-to-head accuracy test.
Setting the DUW 6101 date
The cited DUW 6101 page describes three crown positions for hand-winding, date setting, and time setting. It also specifies a 30-minute date-change period and warns against manually changing the date via the crown during a 90-minute interval. Those are instructions for the cited movement; follow the manual for the exact watch reference before setting its date.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose a watch with DUW 3001 if you want the thinner of these cited specifications and do not need a date display.
- Choose a watch with DUW 6101 if you want NOMOS’s integrated edge-of-dial date and its bidirectional quick correction.
- Compare exact watch references rather than relying on a movement-family name alone when thickness, diameter, or power reserve is decisive.
NOMOS’s caliber pages list watches built around these movements; they do not establish that the calibers themselves are offered as standalone consumer products.
