Oliver Ike’s 2013 Kickstarter effort was to revive A. Manzoni & Fils, a historic watch name, with the Canopus Weekplanner—not to relaunch Ikepod. The distinction matters: Ike had helped start Ikepod with designer Marc Newson, but Monochrome Watches reported that neither was involved with Ikepod at the time of its June 2013 article.
Which watch brand did Oliver Ike try to revive through Kickstarter?

What was the Canopus Weekplanner?
The Canopus was presented as a mechanical calendar wristwatch designed by Finnish designer Ilkka Suppanen. Its calendar indications included the weekday, date, week number, month and moon phase. Monochrome described its case as ergonomically designed; a separate campaign-era WatchPaper report called the watch automatic and listed weekday, moon phase, date and week number among its displays. What were the campaign dates and price?
WatchPaper reported that the campaign was announced to run from 27 August through 27 October 2013. It gave an early campaign price of US$5,000 and described that as one third of the planned future retail price. That wording implies a planned retail price of US$15,000, but that is arithmetic based on the report—not a separately quoted figure or confirmation of a final selling price. These are historical campaign-era terms, not current prices or valuations.

Ike was quoted by WatchPaper saying, “It is time to reunite sophisticated design with handcrafted Swiss watchmaking technology.” That was a statement of campaign intent, not independent evidence of the watch’s manufacture, performance or delivery.
How was the 2013 effort different from Ikepod’s later Kickstarter?
Ike and Marc Newson started Ikepod in 1994, according to Ikepod’s official history. The same history says Christian-Louis Col acquired Ikepod and its designs in 2017, then relaunched the brand through Kickstarter in 2018. Ikepod reports that more than 700 backers supported that campaign for the Duopod and Chronopod; the company says those watches were assembled in Hong Kong with Japanese movements and Taiwanese dials. So the title’s “revives a watch brand” refers to A. Manzoni & Fils and the proposed Canopus, while Ikepod’s separate crowdfunding relaunch came later under Col. The available accounts do not establish the outcome or fulfillment of the Canopus campaign.
