The Omega Constellation is a long-running collection, not one specification or design. Before buying, identify the exact generation and reference, then verify its size, movement, materials, price, warranty, and condition with Omega or a credible seller.
The 2026 Constellation Observatory is one specific new expression: a 39.4 mm, two-hand collection in nine references, with movements and testing developed for Master Chronometer certification without a seconds hand. Its specifications do not apply to every Constellation.
1. Identify which Constellation you mean
Omega describes the 1948 Centenary as the foundation for the collection’s design language. In 1952, the Constellation became Omega’s first series-produced chronometer collection, according to Omega’s 2026 historical account. Since then, the family has evolved across generations, references, and configurations.
Separate the 2026 Observatory from other modern Constellations, the Globemaster, and vintage examples. They have different designs and specifications. The Globemaster became the first Master Chronometer certified by METAS in 2015, according to Omega; that history does not mean every Constellation is Master Chronometer certified.

2. Treat the Observatory as a distinct 2026 release
Omega announced the Constellation Observatory on March 26, 2026, as a 39.4 mm two-hand collection offered in nine references. Its design includes a dodecagonal pie-pan dial, Constellation star, Observatory medallion, faceted indexes, dauphine hands, and dog-leg lugs. Omega presents these as heritage-inspired design cues, not as proof that a particular watch is authentic.
The Observatory is not a synonym for the broader Constellation family. Do not transfer its case size, design details, materials, or movement specifications to another reference without checking that watch’s product information.
3. Check the exact case size and fit
The Observatory measures 39.4 mm. Omega catalog and product-sheet results also show other Constellation examples at 39 mm and 35 mm, so there is no single family-wide size. The available evidence does not establish a universal fit recommendation or provide comparative wrist testing.
- Find the exact reference and confirm its published dimensions.
- Try that reference on where practical; case diameter alone cannot establish comfort or visual presence.
- Check the specific bracelet or strap configuration as well as the case.
Do not assume that a size that works for one Constellation will feel the same on another. If you cannot try it on, ask the seller for the full specifications and a clear return policy.

4. Match the movement and certification to the reference
The 2026 Observatory uses calibre 8914 in O-MEGASTEEL editions and calibre 8915 in precious-metal editions, according to Omega’s release. Omega identifies both as Master Chronometer calibres. For any other Constellation, check the exact product sheet or watch documentation for its calibre and certification; do not infer them from the collection name or appearance.
Omega says the Observatory’s acoustic testing method uses optical hand tracking, allowing the two-hand watches to undergo precision testing without a seconds hand. The testing is certified by METAS. Omega’s March 26, 2026 announcement says its new device records tick and tack sounds and environmental parameters throughout the full 25 days of testing. These are Omega-published product and testing claims, not an independent comparison of watches.

Older mechanical and quartz watches should not be assumed to have the same movements, magnetic resistance, or certification as the 2026 Observatory.
5. Compare materials and configurations carefully
Materials, dials, and bracelet or strap options vary by reference. For the Observatory, Omega describes O-MEGASTEEL and precious-metal editions, including Moonshine Gold, Sedna Gold, Canopus Gold, and Platinum-Gold. Its listed configurations include a black ceramic pie-pan dial and colored dial variants, as well as leather straps and bracelets.

Check the exact reference and your local Omega listings. Do not assume that a material or dial offered on an Observatory is available across the rest of the Constellation family.
6. Understand what the design cues do—and do not—tell you
The pie-pan dial, star, Observatory medallion, faceted indexes, dauphine hands, dog-leg lugs, and nine-row brick bracelet are among the heritage-inspired details Omega associates with the Observatory. They can help you understand the design, but appearance alone cannot authenticate a watch.
For a vintage or pre-owned example, ask about originality and replaced or refinished parts. A familiar dial or case detail is not a substitute for checking the reference, condition, documentation, and seller.
7. Buy through a traceable channel and check documentation
Omega recommends buying from an Omega Boutique or authorized retailer. It warns that unauthorized sources may sell damaged or counterfeit watches and may not provide warranty coverage. For a new watch, inspect the completed warranty card, which Omega says records the serial number, reference, purchase date, and retailer name and address.

For a current model, an Omega boutique or authorized service centre can check whether the model corresponds to the serial number. Omega says this is an important indication, not an authenticity guarantee. A serial match by itself does not prove authenticity, and a magnet test is not a reliable authentication method.
For a pre-owned watch, request clear photographs, reference and serial information where appropriate, service records, a description of replaced or refinished parts, and written return or inspection terms. Consider an assessment by a qualified watchmaker or specialist. No single seller document or visual cue replaces careful inspection.
8. Verify local warranty, price, and availability
Warranty terms, retail prices, stock, and availability depend on the market and exact reference. Omega’s Hong Kong FAQ describes a five-year international warranty for new watches subject to a correctly completed warranty certificate, but that regional information is not a substitute for checking the applicable terms in your country.
Use local Omega listings for recommended retail prices and ask a boutique or authorized retailer about availability. For pre-owned watches, price and condition are seller-specific; the research does not establish a current market price or resale premium. Compare like-for-like references and configurations rather than treating a listing price as a universal value.

Omega says complete service is recommended every five to eight years, depending on use and environment, and recommends checking water resistance annually. Follow current local Omega guidance for the exact watch. Water resistance and service history matter especially for older and pre-owned pieces; do not assume a vintage watch retains its original water resistance.
Omega says an automatic watch winder can be useful when a watch is not worn daily or wrist movement is insufficient to keep it within its power-reserve specifications. A winder is optional, not a universal need. For a pre-owned watch, ask about service history and budget for inspection or service as appropriate. Omega says pre-owned value varies with condition, supply and demand, and country; it does not support a general investment or resale promise.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I be sure an Omega Constellation is authentic?
Buy through an Omega Boutique or authorized retailer when possible. For pre-owned watches, check the reference and serial information, documentation, condition, and seller terms, and consider a qualified inspection. Omega cautions that a serial match is an important indication, not an authenticity guarantee.
How do I find the price of an Omega Constellation?
Check Omega’s regional listings or ask a local boutique or authorized retailer for the exact reference’s recommended retail price. Pre-owned prices depend on the individual watch and seller; no universal price or resale premium is established here.

How do I check whether a Constellation model is available?
Ask an Omega Boutique or authorized retailer in your market. Availability is reference- and location-specific, so verify current stock rather than relying on an old listing or a different regional page.
Are all Omega Constellations Master Chronometers?
No. Certification depends on the exact reference. Omega identifies the 2026 Observatory’s calibres 8914 and 8915 as Master Chronometer calibres, but other modern, vintage, or quartz watches need to be checked individually.
What is different about the 2026 Constellation Observatory?
Omega introduced it as a 39.4 mm, two-hand collection in nine references. Omega says its acoustic testing method with optical hand tracking enables Master Chronometer certification without a seconds hand. These details describe the Observatory release, not every Constellation.
How often should an Omega Constellation be serviced?
Omega recommends complete service every five to eight years depending on use and environment, and recommends an annual water-resistance check. Confirm current guidance for your market and have a pre-owned watch assessed based on its condition and service history.
