The Omega Ladymatic is a women’s watch with a name dating to 1955 and a mechanically focused relaunch presented in 2010. The relaunch paired 34 mm cases and distinctive decorative construction with Omega Co-Axial movements. There is no single specification for every Ladymatic: case material, calibre, dial, bezel, strap or bracelet, and regional availability vary by reference.
What is the Omega Ladymatic?
Omega’s parent company, Swatch Group, says the first Ladymatic watches were released in 1955 as self-winding watches created especially for women. Omega revived the name for a collection presented in 2010. In a 2025 article, Omega also refers to Ladymatic as one of its historic women’s-watch icons, a heritage reference that does not by itself establish that the collection is currently offered.
The 2010 relaunch was not simply a decorative watch with a mechanical movement added as an afterthought. Its design and movement were both central to the collection. Omega president Stephen Urquhart described the engine this way: “The movement driving the Ladymatic watches is the Omega Co-Axial calibre 8520 / 8521.”
What made the relaunched Ladymatic distinctive?
Case construction and size
The Swatch Group launch archive describes polished 34 mm cases with a ceramic ring between an outer decorative wave and the inner case body. The documented case materials included stainless steel and 18-carat red or yellow gold. Those are launch-era collection details; confirm the material and dimensions against the exact reference when assessing an individual watch.

Dial, bezel and display back
The archive describes a supernova-pattern dial and a sapphire display caseback. Bezel treatments included polished versions and snow-set diamond-paved versions. Configurations therefore differ substantially in appearance: a diamond-set bezel or a particular dial should not be assumed to be standard across all Ladymatics.
Movement as part of the design
The relaunch used automatic Co-Axial calibres 8520 and 8521, both documented in the historical archive. Official product pages show why it is important to identify the reference before naming the movement: Hong Kong reference 425.30.34.20.05.001 is listed with calibre 8520, while yellow-gold reference 425.60.34.20.55.003 is listed with calibre 8521. The archive also describes a silicon balance spring and says each watch in the collection was an officially certified chronometer. These are collection-level launch descriptions, not a substitute for checking the specifications of a particular watch.

How Ladymatic references differ
These official regional listings illustrate variation; they are examples, not a complete catalogue.
| Reference and source | Documented configuration | Availability note |
|---|---|---|
| 425.30.34.20.05.001, Omega Hong Kong | 34 mm, steel, calibre 8520 | The cited page documents the reference; it does not establish worldwide inventory. |
| 425.60.34.20.55.003, Omega Hong Kong | 34 mm, yellow gold, calibre 8521 | The cited page documents the reference; it does not establish worldwide inventory. |
| 425.68.34.20.63.002, Omega Taiwan | 34 mm, rose gold, leather strap, calibre 8521, 50-hour power reserve and 100 m water resistance | The Taiwan page labels this reference “no longer supplied.” That status applies to the page and reference, not every Ladymatic or every market. |
The archive says the collection’s watches had a four-year warranty at launch. That is historical information, not a statement of current warranty coverage or terms.

What to check before choosing or buying one
Because the Ladymatic is represented by multiple references and regional pages, make the reference number the starting point rather than relying on a broad collection description. For a pre-owned watch, ask the seller to document the exact watch and compare its condition and accessories with the reference-specific details.

- Reference number: Match the number on the watch and its paperwork to a reliable listing or official product page.
- Case and dimensions: Verify material and diameter for that reference rather than assuming every example is identical.
- Movement: Confirm whether the reference is documented with calibre 8520 or 8521; do not infer the calibre from the collection name alone.
- Configuration: Check the dial, bezel, and whether the watch has a strap or bracelet. Photographs and listing titles may not establish that parts are original.
- Condition and service records: Request clear condition details and any available service documentation. No service history can be inferred from a reference page.
- Water resistance and other specifications: Use the exact reference’s documentation. The 100 m rating on the Taiwan listing belongs to that specific model and should not be generalized.
- Market and seller terms: Regional availability can differ, and an archived or regional listing does not prove current stock. For a pre-owned purchase, assess the seller’s reputation and return terms; no current price or inventory is established here.
