Which Seamaster 300 does this refer to?
The Seamaster 300 is Omega’s heritage-style collection, presented by Watches of Switzerland as a modern iteration of the original 1957 model. It is not the same watch as the Seamaster Diver 300M, a separate Omega line. The distinction matters: the two names are similar, but specifications for one should not be attributed to the other.
For a concrete example of the current collection, Watches of Switzerland lists a blue-dial, stainless steel Seamaster 300, reference O23430412103001. The retailer identifies it as a 41 mm Master Chronometer powered by Calibre 8912. Its US-facing listing showed $8,000 when reviewed; that is a retailer price snapshot, not a universal Omega price, and regional pricing and availability can change. What makes the modern Seamaster 300 distinctive?
Heritage design with contemporary construction
WatchTime’s review of the 2021 generation describes a sandwich dial: a luminous base plate sits beneath a perforated upper layer. The bezel track is luminous throughout, reinforcing the watch’s vintage-inspired appearance. The design is a deliberate part of the appeal, but it also shapes the watch’s priorities as an instrument.

Aluminum bezel rather than the earlier ceramic
WatchTime notes that the 2021 generation switched from the earlier model’s ceramic bezel to aluminum. The aluminum bezel is less scratch resistant, so buyers who value resistance to visible bezel wear should account for that material change. Master Chronometer certification
WatchTime explains that Omega’s fully assembled watches undergo METAS testing for functional reliability, rate stability, water resistance, power reserve and resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. Watches that pass receive Master Chronometer certification. That figure describes a certification test level cited by WatchTime; it is not a claim about a measured everyday magnetic environment.

Is it a good choice for actual diving?
WatchTime’s reviewer reported that the bezel moved unintentionally during the wearing test. The review also pointed to the absence of minute markers on the bezel track as evidence that the design leans toward retro styling. Based on those findings, the reviewer considered the tested version better suited to daily wear, water sports and formal occasions than to use as a backup dive instrument.
That is a reported finding from a review of the 2021 generation, not an independent test of every Seamaster 300 or a guarantee that every example will behave the same way. Still, it is a practical caution: if your priority is dependable elapsed-time tracking underwater, the reported bezel behavior deserves more weight than the watch’s dive-watch appearance.

Seamaster 300 vs. Seamaster Diver 300M
The Seamaster Diver 300M is a distinct collection, not another name for the heritage-style Seamaster 300. Choose between the families based on the specific model and use case rather than the shared “Seamaster” name. The available review evidence supports evaluating the Seamaster 300 as a heritage-oriented everyday watch that can handle water sports, while raising a caution about relying on its bezel as a dive instrument.

Who should consider the Seamaster 300?
- Consider it if you want a modern watch with a clear connection to Omega’s 1957 Seamaster 300 and value its retro dial and bezel design.
- Inspect the bezel tradeoff if scratch resistance is important: WatchTime says the 2021 generation’s aluminum bezel is less scratch resistant than the earlier ceramic version.
- Be cautious about primary dive use if you need confident elapsed-time tracking underwater, given WatchTime’s report of unintended bezel movement during its wearing test.

So, is it the best modern dive watch available?
There is not enough comparative evidence here to name the Seamaster 300 the best modern dive watch overall. It makes a persuasive case as a premium heritage-style watch with water-sport capability, but the review’s bezel caveat complicates a recommendation for buyers seeking a primary dive instrument. Its strongest case is for someone who values the vintage-inspired design and intends to wear it mainly day to day, with water sports as part of its use.
