How the Worldtimer dial works
The dial combines several layers rather than relying on a conventional city-name ring. OMEGA describes a sandblasted platinum-gold outer dial, 18K yellow-gold hands and indexes coated with Super-LumiNova, and a hand-crafted enamel world map under a sapphire crystal at the center. A surrounding 24-hour indication lets the wearer read times around the world.
The destination ring uses color to distinguish time-zone conventions: GMT is red, locations observing summer time are black, and locations without daylight saving time are blue. The display’s central map and day-night 24-hour indication reflect the broader Worldtimer design OMEGA discussed in its May 2023 collection announcement. That later release covered different models; it is not the source for this platinum reference’s movement specification.

Movement and practical wear
Calibre 8939 is the movement specified for this platinum watch. It is automatic, has a Co-Axial escapement and carries METAS Master Chronometer certification, with a stated 60-hour power reserve. OMEGA says it resists magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. The 2023 Worldtimer models use calibre 8938, so that calibre should not be confused with the 8939 fitted to reference 220.93.43.22.99.001.
The 43 mm diameter and 14.30 mm thickness make the case substantial, while the stated approximate product weight of 194 g gives an additional indication of what to expect on the wrist. The 21 mm lug width is useful when checking strap fit. Water resistance is 15 bar, equivalent to 150 m or 500 ft according to OMEGA; it is a specification, not a guarantee that every activity at that depth is suitable.

Materials and limited-edition status
The platinum case and foldover clasp are paired with a brown alligator-leather strap. On the dial, the platinum-gold finish and yellow-gold hands and indexes contrast with the enamel map. OMEGA states that it made 87 editions of this reference. That figure describes the original edition size; it does not establish how many watches are available for sale now.
Price and availability
OMEGA’s official product page marks reference 220.93.43.22.99.001 as no longer available and does not state a price. A current official price therefore cannot be verified from that source, and the available information does not establish the original launch price either.
Discontinued status is not the same as an absence of resale listings: it describes the manufacturer’s availability, not current secondary-market supply. A meaningful resale price would need to be tied to a dated listing for this exact reference and a named market or geography. Without that evidence, quoting a number would risk confusing this platinum edition with another Worldtimer or presenting an old asking price as current.

OMEGA’s May 2023 announcement describes three other Worldtimer models, whose movements are calibre 8938 and whose water resistance is 150 m. Those are collection-level details for that release, not specifications for this platinum watch. The exact-reference product page identifies the platinum edition’s calibre as 8939. The shared design idea is a world map at the dial center with a 24-hour indication divided into night and day; the references and movement details remain distinct.

- Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Automatic Chronometer Watch 220.10.38.20.02.001
OMEGA President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann called the three 2023 models “beautiful, fun to wear and operate and true collectables.” The comment was about that release, not a specific evaluation of the platinum reference.
