It offers a useful second-time-zone display alongside a conventional elapsed-time dive bezel. The “James Bond” association needs a distinction: Omega identified the watch in Casino Royale as a Seamaster 300 M Diver Chronometer, not this GMT reference. So 2535.80.00 is best judged on its own merits—not as the film-worn Bond watch.
What the Seamaster 300M GMT ref. 2535.80.00 is
Omega’s product page lists ref. 2535.80.00 as a 41 mm stainless-steel watch with a blue dial, automatic calibre 2628 and 300 m / 1,000 ft water resistance. Omega marks the reference discontinued. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not measurements from a hands-on test, and the condition of any pre-owned example must be assessed individually.

|---|---|

All listed details are from Omega’s product page. They describe the model as specified by Omega, not the present-day state of a particular watch.
How the GMT hand and dive bezel work together
The central 24-hour GMT hand tracks a second time zone against the dial. The rotating bezel is a separate tool: its unidirectional action is for elapsed-time timing, as on a diver-style watch. This reference does not have a dedicated 24-hour bezel, so the GMT hand is not read against the dive bezel as though the bezel were a second time-zone scale.

- Model 212.30.44.52.01.001
That division makes the watch a diver-style GMT: use the extra hand to follow another time zone and the bezel to mark elapsed time. The dial’s blue wave pattern and date at 3 o’clock give the display its familiar Seamaster Diver 300M character, while the GMT hand adds information beyond a standard time-and-date diver.
Does this reference deserve the “James Bond” label?
It is important to separate Bond’s Omega association from the identity of this specific reference. In an Omega press kit dated 17 May 2006, the company described the watch featured in Casino Royale as the “Omega Seamaster 300 M Diver Chronometer.” That statement does not identify ref. 2535.80.00 as the film watch. Bond reference material instead associates ref. 2531.80 with the Bond-watch lineage. The press kit also documents the phrase “the Bond watch” as wording used by people visiting Omega stores; it is not evidence of measured search behavior.

For the original statement, see the reproduced Omega press kit. For the separate reference identification, see the ref. 2531.80 reference page. The more accurate framing is that the 2535.80.00 belongs to the Seamaster 300M family and can be discussed in the broader Bond context, but the cited evidence does not establish that it appeared on screen.
Movement and servicing considerations
Omega lists calibre 2628 and a 48-hour power reserve. A specialist review of refs. 2535.80 and 2539.80 discusses 2628A and 2628B variants, placing them in the 2500 movement family with a GMT hand added. It notes differences in beat rate and escapement revisions and warns that online descriptions can conflict. Without serial- or service-based confirmation, do not assume which variant is in a particular watch.

For a pre-owned example, movement identity is only one part of the decision. Ask for service records and arrange an inspection by Omega or a qualified watchmaker. A model’s original water-resistance rating does not establish that an older, individual watch remains water-resistant or accurate today. The specialist discussion of the reference is available at Omega Forums Stories.
What to inspect before buying a used example
Condition can matter more than a reference’s specification sheet. The specialist review calls attention to bezel, case and bracelet wear, possible moisture damage and servicing needs. Use these checks to guide a seller conversation and an independent inspection:

- Model 210.90.42.20.01.001
- Bezel: Check the aluminium insert and its markings for wear or damage. The specialist review notes that replacement may involve a complete assembly; confirm repair options and cost with Omega or a qualified watchmaker for the specific watch.
- Case and bracelet: Look for wear, damage and signs of polishing or repair. Check that the clasp and diver extension operate as expected.
- Dial and hands: Ask whether there are signs of moisture or damage, and have any concerns assessed in person.
- Service history: Request dated paperwork and ask what work was performed. If records are absent or unclear, factor an inspection and possible service into the decision.
- Price: Compare current listings for watches in similar condition and with similar documentation. Historical asking prices in older reviews are not a dependable current valuation.
A compatible aftermarket strap may be an option, but it is not the original bracelet. Omega lists a 20 mm lug width; confirm the strap’s actual fit and quality rather than assuming width alone guarantees compatibility.

The ref. 2535.80.00 combines a second-time-zone hand with a dedicated elapsed-time dive bezel, plus the blue dial and steel-bracelet format of a Seamaster Diver 300M. Its discontinued status makes condition and service evidence central to a pre-owned purchase. Buy it for that combination and its place in the Seamaster family—not on the unsupported assumption that this exact GMT was the watch worn in Casino Royale.
