The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT Orange Ceramic in Platinum is a 2014 limited edition reported as an eight-piece run. Its defining combination is a 43.5 mm platinum case and dial, an orange ceramic 24-hour GMT bezel, and automatic Co-Axial Calibre 8615. Those specifications come from contemporaneous hands-on coverage; they should not be confused with the distinct Planet Ocean redesign Omega introduced in 2025.
What is the 2014 orange ceramic Planet Ocean GMT?
It is a rare, historic Planet Ocean variant that pairs a bright orange ceramic bezel with platinum construction. Contemporaneous coverage reported that Omega made eight pieces. The same report describes a 43.5 mm brushed and polished platinum case, a sand-blasted 950-grade platinum dial, and a sapphire display caseback. These are specifications attributed to the 2014 report, rather than a current Omega product listing. A Blog to Watch’s 2014 hands-on report.
How does its GMT bezel work?
The orange ceramic bezel rotates in both directions and has a 24-hour scale. Read together with the central GMT hand, that scale lets the wearer track a second time zone. The report describes the bezel as a GMT feature, not a conventional elapsed-dive-time bezel; its function and display are central to what distinguishes this Planet Ocean from a standard orange-bezel diver.
Movement and published specifications
The 2014 coverage identifies the movement as automatic Co-Axial Calibre 8615, with an Si14 silicon balance spring and a reported 60-hour power reserve. It also gives a water-resistance rating of 60 bar / 600 m. The table below records the reported figures and their attribution; it is not a current manufacturer specification sheet.

What the hands-on report does—and does not—establish
The available hands-on account documents the design and published specifications of the 2014 model. It does not establish the condition, service history, present accuracy, or authenticity of any surviving example. Nor does it provide a basis for a current value or price estimate. The reported 600 m rating is a specification, not a reason to take a decades-old watch of unknown condition underwater.
How it differs from the 2025 Planet Ocean
Omega announced the fourth-generation Planet Ocean on 18 November 2025, describing a redesigned collection that includes orange ceramic bezel options. Swatch Group’s account gives that generation a 42 mm diameter, 13.79 mm thickness, and Calibre 8912 with a 60-hour reserve. Those details apply to the 2025 watches, not the 2014 platinum GMT described here. Omega’s fourth-generation announcement; Swatch Group’s 2025 account.

What to verify when evaluating an example
The reported eight-piece edition makes exact-reference identification and provenance particularly important. The contemporary coverage does not establish the model reference, original retail price, current market value, present availability, or condition of any surviving watch. Ask for evidence specific to the example rather than assuming that a listing’s title or photographs confirm it.

- Request documentation that identifies the watch and supports its limited-edition provenance.
- Check that the case, dial, orange ceramic bezel, movement, and caseback match the described configuration; have a qualified watchmaker assess the individual watch.
- Confirm which strap or straps are included. The coverage reports different leather configurations and an additional orange rubber strap, so a particular set should not be assumed.
- Separate the 2014 43.5 mm Calibre 8615 platinum GMT from the 2025 42 mm Calibre 8912 generation when comparing specifications or listings.
- Treat water resistance as unverified until the particular watch has been appropriately inspected and tested.
