Omega’s 2022 Chrono Chime debut introduced two watches powered by the same unusual movement: the numbered Olympic 1932 Chrono Chime and the Speedmaster Chrono Chime. Calibre 1932 combines a chronograph with a chime that reports the elapsed interval measured by the chronograph. One frames that technology through Omega’s Olympic timekeeping history; the other puts it in a 45 mm Speedmaster design.
What does “Chrono Chime” do?
It chimes elapsed chronograph time, rather than simply sounding the current time as a conventional minute repeater does. Omega describes Calibre 1932 as combining chronograph and minute-repeater functions so the movement can acoustically report a measured interval. Omega called it a world first; that claim is the company’s description of its innovation, not an independently adjudicated distinction. The project took six years, according to Omega’s 25 October 2022 launch announcement: Omega’s announcement.

Fratello’s launch report says the watches also offer split-seconds timing, and that a dedicated pusher triggers the chime for the measured interval. It reports that the movement is hand-wound, runs at 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour), and has a 60-hour power reserve. These are specifications reported by Fratello, rather than details supplied in Omega’s announcement: Fratello’s launch coverage.
The Olympic 1932 product page describes two hammers striking Sedna Gold gongs. It says high, low, and double tones correspond to seconds, minutes, and tens of seconds. That wording is from Omega Taiwan’s Traditional Chinese product page, so the exact tone terminology should be treated as a translation rather than confirmed English-language technical phrasing: Omega Taiwan’s Olympic 1932 product page.

Why are there two watches?
Olympic 1932 Chrono Chime: a historical tribute
This numbered model connects two parts of Omega’s history: the company’s 1892 minute-repeater wristwatch and the pocket chronographs used at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games, where Omega served as official timekeeper. Its identity is deliberately historical rather than Speedmaster-led. Omega’s launch took place in Los Angeles on 25 October 2022, with the reveal at Walt Disney Concert Hall and a dinner at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the 1932 Games’ venue. Swimmer Michael Phelps attended the launch.
Omega lists the Olympic 1932 as a 45 mm Sedna Gold watch with a Grand Feu enamel dial and a hand-made 925 silver guilloché inner bezel. Its product page gives the reference as 522.53.45.52.04.001 and describes quick-change options for wrist, pocket-watch, and cord wear. Those details come from the regional Omega product page linked above.

Speedmaster Chrono Chime: the contemporary Speedmaster expression
The Speedmaster version carries the collection’s familiar identity into the same chiming chronograph concept. Omega described it at launch as a 45 mm model intended for everyday wear. Fratello reports a 17.27 mm case height and a blue aventurine Grand Feu enamel dial, and says its design takes cues from the CK 2998 generation of Speedmasters. These fine-grained design and measurement details are Fratello’s launch-report specifications, not figures stated in Omega’s announcement.

The same report gives the Olympic model’s height and weight as 16.93 mm and 185.50 g, respectively, and the Speedmaster’s weight as 326.20 g. Omega’s product materials and the cited launch coverage do not establish current availability, current pricing, or resale value.

What makes the Olympic connection more than a dial theme?
The Olympic model’s concept draws on Omega’s role in Olympic timing in Los Angeles in 1932 and its earlier minute-repeater history. That link gives the shared chime a specific context: a modern elapsed-time instrument is presented alongside the brand’s older timekeeping and chiming traditions. The Speedmaster instead makes the movement’s contemporary sporting-chronograph character central. Both use Calibre 1932, but their design stories and wearing formats are distinct.
