Omega Speedmasters appear in films ranging from The Deadly Affair (1967) to Moonfall (2022). The clearest documented example is First Man, for which Omega identifies the period-correct references used on screen. Other sightings are specialist watch-spotter identifications, not necessarily studio or brand confirmations—so this is a selection, not a definitive filmography.

Why the Speedmaster turns up in space films—and elsewhere

The Speedmaster’s screen presence draws on a real spaceflight history. Swatch Group says NASA declared it “Flight Qualified for all Manned Space Missions” on March 1, 1965, and notes the watch’s role in Apollo 11. That history makes the watch a natural fit for stories about astronauts, but it does not mean every film appearance was sponsored or supplied by Omega.

Fratello notes that Omega does not sponsor many movies; watches may instead be selected by actors or a production’s props department. Treat an on-screen sighting as a spotting unless a source specifically documents the production arrangement.

Omega Speedmaster film appearances to spot

The examples below combine official production information with specialist identifications. Only the First Man entries have specific references documented by Omega’s parent company; the other identifications are attributed to Fratello or IMWDb.

Gravity 2013 Fratello identifies a Speedmaster Professional on George Clooney’s Matt Kowalski and notes that the depicted watch lacks its tachymeter bezel. Fratello
First Man 2018 Omega identifies reference ST 105.003 on Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong in NASA training scenes, and ST 105.012 on actors portraying Apollo 11 astronauts during the mission and landing. Swatch Group production information
Stowaway 2021 Fratello says Daniel Dae Kim wore the #SpeedyTuesday II “Ultraman,” supplied by Omega for the production. Fratello
Moonfall 2022 Fratello notes a Speedmaster appearance on Patrick Wilson. Fratello

Which sightings have the strongest documentation?

First Man: references and production context

For First Man, Swatch Group provides the most specific production detail in this selection: it says Omega supplied period-correct watches and names two references. ST 105.003 is associated with the Armstrong training scenes; ST 105.012 is associated with the actors portraying the Apollo 11 astronauts during the mission and landing. Those details make this the best-supported reference-level example here.

Other films: useful sightings, not universal confirmation

Fratello’s film identifications and IMWDb’s catalog are useful leads for spotting watches, but they are not studio or brand confirmation for every appearance. Exact references are not established for most of the examples above, so the table uses the level of detail those sources support rather than assigning a model number by inference.

How complete is the movie list?

It is not exhaustive. Fratello presents its list as open to additions, and IMWDb’s Speedmaster Professional page reported 29 cataloged on-screen appearances when last modified on July 15, 2026. That number is the database’s catalog count, not a verified total of every Speedmaster movie appearance.

For reliable watch spotting, keep three questions separate: is the watch identified by a specialist or documented by the production; is the film portraying real history or fiction; and does a source establish an exact reference? First Man answers those questions more specifically than the other examples in this selection.
