The Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.012-67 is a late-1960s, manually wound Speedmaster powered by caliber 321. It is the final Speedmaster reference identified with that movement, before the succeeding 145.022 moved to caliber 861. For a specific watch, treat reference details as a starting point: originality, service parts and mechanical condition must be assessed separately.
What the 145.012-67 is
Omega introduced the 145.012 reference family in 1967 as a minor visual update to the 105.012. The most visible distinction is at the pushers: the 145.012 has larger caps mounted differently to the case. Fratello dates the family to 1967–1968 and identifies both -67 and -68 sub-reference forms. The later 145.022, introduced in 1968, used caliber 861 instead of caliber 321. Fratello’s Speedmaster reference archive describes the lineage and reference details.
The reference family is listed with a 42 mm case diameter and 20 mm lug width. These are reference specifications, not a guarantee that an individual example has an unpolished case or original dimensions after decades of wear and service.
How it differs from nearby Speedmasters
| Reference | Movement | Useful distinction |
|---|---|---|
| 105.012 | Caliber 321 | Preceding design; the 145.012’s larger, differently mounted pusher caps are the main visible change described by Fratello. |
| 145.012 | Caliber 321 | 1967–1968 reference family, including -67 and -68 forms; identified as the final Speedmaster reference with caliber 321. |
| 145.022 | Caliber 861 | Succeeding reference, introduced in 1968. |
Historical details in the table follow Fratello’s reference archive. A movement caliber or pusher detail helps distinguish references, but neither alone proves that a watch or its components are original.

What configuration to look for
Fratello’s buyer guide describes the common 145.012 baseline as an asymmetric case with a Dot Over 90 bezel, a tritium dial marked “T Swiss Made T” with long indices, tritium hands, and a single-step Seahorse caseback. The dial should carry “Professional” text and an applied Omega logo. These are reference checks rather than a checklist that authenticates any one watch. See Fratello’s 145.012 buying guide for the described configuration.
Allow for documented hand variation
Not every period-correct 145.012-67 necessarily has the same chronograph seconds hand. Fratello notes that late examples may have a straight or flat-end hand; Omega began using this style around 1968 after earlier drop-shaped hands. The shape should be judged in context with the watch’s date, other components and service history, not treated as an automatic pass or failure.

Bracelet context
Ott Uhr identifies the Omega 1039 bracelet with 516 end links as a period-correct option and also notes the 1116 bracelet with 575 end links as a period option. A bracelet’s reference and apparent fit do not establish that it belongs to a particular watch, so verify the bracelet and end links individually before buying or sourcing parts. Ott Uhr’s 145.012-67 guide provides this additional fit and parts context.
How to assess a 145.012-67 before buying
- Match the reference and case: Check the case and caseback details against the claimed reference, including the pusher arrangement. Ask a specialist to verify the reference rather than relying on a seller’s description.
- Inspect the movement: Confirm that the movement is caliber 321 and that its condition and configuration are consistent with the watch. A correct movement does not, by itself, establish that the rest of the watch is original.
- Compare dial, hands and bezel: Review the “Professional” text, applied logo, tritium markings, indices, hand style and bezel together. Look for signs of replacement, damage or mismatch, while allowing for documented late straight-end seconds-hand examples.
- Check the case and moisture history: Look for corrosion, water or moisture damage, and damage to the movement. Ask directly about prior moisture exposure and service work; have a qualified watchmaker inspect the watch if the answer or condition is unclear.
- Review bracelet and mechanical condition separately: Check whether the bracelet and end links are suitable for the period, and have a specialist assess whether the movement functions properly. Correct-looking components do not guarantee sound mechanics, and a running watch is not necessarily original.
Fratello’s buyer guide highlights movement function, absence of moisture or movement damage, bezel condition and a correct or time-correct bracelet as points to examine. Its guide is not an authentication service; a specialist watchmaker’s condition assessment and a separate originality review address different questions.

What an Omega archive extract can—and cannot—show
A reproduced Omega extract for one ST 145.012 records a caliber 321, movement number, model, production date and delivery destination. That makes an extract useful evidence about the production information in Omega’s records, but it does not establish that the watch currently contains its original components or that it is authentic.
The example document, dated February 11, 2022, says it was prepared from client-submitted information without professional examination of the watch. It explicitly states that it is neither a Certificate of Authenticity nor proof of ownership, and does not attest to the authenticity of the watch or any component. Read the extract as archival provenance, not as a substitute for physical inspection. Fratello reproduces and discusses the document in its buying guide.

Production estimate and further reading
Fratello estimated 27,000–28,000 examples for the 145.012 reference family in a 2019 guide. That is an estimate for the family, not a verified Omega production total and not a count specifically for the -67 suffix. Fratello also recommends the collector reference book Moonwatch Only as a research aid for buyers considering this or another vintage Speedmaster; a book can support comparison but cannot authenticate an individual watch. Fratello’s buying guide is the source for the estimate and recommendation.
