The commemorative name refers to the 30th anniversary of Apollo 11. Phillips’s Spring 2023 Hong Kong auction catalogue reports that the edition comprised 9,999 watches. How to identify reference 3560.50
Check the caseback
Fratello describes the watch as close in appearance to the standard Speedmaster of its period, with the commemorative elements on the caseback: an Apollo XI mission-patch medallion, the landing date and time, an individual number, and the wording “Hello Houston, tranquillity base here. The Eagle has landed.” This is the wording reported on the caseback; it should not be treated here as an independently verified attribution to a particular speaker. Fratello Watches

For a specific listing, compare the stated reference with clear photographs of the caseback and its individual number. A matching model name in a listing is not a substitute for evidence of the watch itself.
Use the specification as a cross-check
OMEGA’s specification page lists a 42 mm case, 20 mm lug width, Hesalite crystal, manual-wind calibre 1861, 48-hour power reserve, and 5-bar water resistance. It also marks the model discontinued. What to check when buying a pre-owned example
- Reference and engraving: Ask for the reference and sharp, unobstructed caseback images showing the commemorative details and individual number.
- Condition and originality: Request detailed photographs and a clear account of the watch’s condition and any replaced or refinished parts.

- Seller evidence: Prefer a seller who can provide supporting records and allow an inspection or explain the available return terms.
Does the 5-bar rating mean an older example is safe to take swimming?
No. The 5-bar figure is OMEGA’s specification for the model, not proof that a decades-old individual watch remains water-resistant. Seals and condition can change over time; have the specific watch assessed before exposing it to water.
