The Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary (ref. 310.32.42.50.02.001) pairs a silver-and-blue Moonwatch design with a caseback animation tied to the Apollo 13 rescue. Omega introduced it in 2020, 50 years after NASA astronauts presented the brand with the Silver Snoopy Award. Its defining detail is functional: start the chronograph and a Snoopy figure appears to orbit the far side of the moon, while a rotating Earth disc moves in time with the small-seconds hand. Omega said at launch that the model would not be limited in production; that does not establish present-day stock or pricing.
Why Omega made the 50th Anniversary Snoopy Speedmaster
Omega says NASA astronauts gave the company the Silver Snoopy Award in 1970, recognizing its contributions to space exploration and the Speedmaster’s support during the Apollo 13 rescue. The anniversary watch makes that history part of the design rather than relying on a name alone: Snoopy appears on the dial and animates on the caseback when the chronograph runs. Omega’s October 2020 announcement describes the award and its connection to Apollo 13 in its official release.
The silver caseback medallion echoes the style of the Silver Snoopy pin given to award recipients, according to Omega. The watch is therefore both a Speedmaster chronograph and a commemorative design whose central feature refers to a specific episode in the model’s spaceflight history.

How the animated Snoopy caseback works
The caseback’s sapphire crystal reveals a lunar scene with micro-structured metallisation. Pressing the chronograph starts the animation: Snoopy, shown in a Command and Service Module, appears to orbit a depiction of the moon’s far side. The Earth disc rotates once per minute alongside the small-seconds hand, according to Omega’s official description.
This makes the chronograph operation the trigger for the display, while the Earth disc’s minute-long rotation is tied to the small seconds. The animation is the feature that most clearly distinguishes the commemorative caseback from a static engraved tribute.

What the 2020 hands-on review adds
Omega’s announcement supplies the official dimensions and materials, but it does not establish how every wearer will experience the watch. In his October 2020 hands-on review, Fratello’s Robert-Jan Broer described it as comfortable on the fabric strap and noted that the blue appeared to change with the lighting. Those are his impressions, not a universal fit assessment; his same review reports the 14.47 mm quick measurement.
