The OnePlus Watch 3 leak was substantially accurate, but the finished product came with important qualifications. OnePlus launched the Watch 3 on February 18, 2025, with wrist-temperature tracking, vascular-health analysis, sleep and blood-oxygen monitoring, and a 60-second Health Check-In. ECG support exists only where the model, software, and local certification allow it—it was not available in the United States or Canada at launch.
What the original leak claimed
Reports published on December 31, 2024, pointed to four major additions: ECG support, wrist-temperature tracking, a one-minute health check, and broader health analysis in the OHealth app. The reports also anticipated an early-January launch.

That information came from previews and app-related evidence rather than a complete OnePlus announcement. Such evidence can reveal planned features, but it cannot establish final hardware, launch timing, country availability, or regulatory approval. The January 7 expectation was ultimately wrong for the U.S. and Canada; OnePlus announced the Watch 3 on February 18, 2025.

What actually shipped
The standard 46mm OnePlus Watch 3 includes a wrist-temperature sensor, optical heart-rate and pulse-oximeter sensors, sleep monitoring, vascular-health analysis, and OnePlus’s 60S Health Check-In. The OHealth app also supports the company’s 360 Mind and Body analysis.
OnePlus’s U.S. materials emphasize six headline areas: heart rate, blood oxygen, vascular health, wrist temperature, sleep, and physical and mental well-being. Early leak coverage described seven indicators by including ECG. That difference matters: ECG is not universally enabled, so it should not be described as a guaranteed part of every Watch 3 health scan.
The official launch announcement and U.S. specifications confirm the main feature set.

How the 60-second Health Check-In works
- Wear the watch securely and wake the display.
- Open the All-in-one Scan or 60S Health Check-In function.
- Touch the designated scan contact or side button with a finger.
- Remain still for approximately 60 seconds.
- Review the report on the watch, then use OHealth for history and trends.
The scan combines available measurements and previously collected information. It should not be interpreted as six or seven completely new measurements taken from scratch in one minute. Sleep quality, emotional-wellness insights, and some trend-based results depend on earlier wear, activity, sleep, and baseline data.
OnePlus calls this a wellness and fitness feature, not a medical examination. It cannot diagnose disease or replace professional care.
ECG availability depends on country
An ECG records the heart’s electrical signal by completing a circuit between the wearer’s body and the watch. That is different from continuous optical heart-rate monitoring, which uses light-based sensors.
The Watch 3’s ECG story has three separate parts:
- Hardware: Some regional product documentation supports ECG-related sensing.
- Software: The ECG Analyzer requires compatible OHealth software and firmware.
- Regulation: The feature must be authorized for the relevant market.
For U.S. and Canadian buyers, ECG was unavailable at launch because OnePlus did not have the necessary local certification. WIRED’s review reported OnePlus’s explanation that the omission was linked to the lack of official FDA certification. Do not assume that a watch bought in another region will unlock ECG in the United States.
OnePlus’s UK product page said ECG was expected in the third quarter of 2025, subject to MHRA certification. That was a UK-specific qualification, not proof of worldwide availability. Before buying, check the current product page and the ECG option in the OHealth app for your country.
Wrist temperature is a baseline feature, not a thermometer
The Watch 3 is intended to track changes in wrist temperature, especially during sleep. It is not measuring core body temperature in the same way as an oral, ear, or rectal thermometer.

The feature needs enough normal wear to establish an individual baseline. Secondary hands-on coverage has described roughly five nights of data collection before meaningful comparisons become available, although the exact experience can vary with software and usage.
Readings can be affected by fit, skin contact, ambient temperature, exercise, sleep position, and charging interruptions. A deviation from baseline does not prove fever or illness. If symptoms matter, use a clinical thermometer and seek medical advice.
Vascular health, sleep, and mental-wellness data
OnePlus describes vascular health using arterial-stiffness analysis and age- or peer-group comparisons. A displayed “vascular age” is an algorithmic wellness estimate, not a physician-measured diagnosis. It is not equivalent to blood pressure, cholesterol testing, or a clinical vascular examination.
Sleep monitoring can contribute to longer-term insights, while the 360 Mind and Body system presents physical and mental-wellness information. These features may be useful for spotting personal patterns, but OnePlus’s public materials do not establish diagnostic accuracy for individual users. Trends are generally more informative than a single unusual result.
The Watch 3 is explicitly marketed as a general wellness and fitness product, not a medical device. Its readings should support—not replace—clinical evaluation.

Standard 46mm Watch 3: relevant hardware
The health features are tied to the standard model’s sensor package. The U.S. 46mm version measures approximately 46.6mm by 47.6mm by 11.75mm and weighs 49.7g without its strap. It has a 631mAh battery, a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display, sapphire crystal, IP68 and 5ATM protection, and MIL-STD-810H testing claims.
OnePlus rates it for up to five days in Smart Mode, three days in heavy-use Smart Mode, or 16 days in Power Saver Mode. Those are manufacturer test claims; actual battery life changes with display settings, calls, GPS, workouts, LTE or connectivity behavior, and health monitoring.
It runs Wear OS by Google alongside RTOS in a dual-engine design. Full specifications are available on OnePlus’s official specifications page.
Do not confuse it with the Watch 3 43mm
The later OnePlus Watch 3 43mm is a separate variant. It weighs approximately 37.8g and is rated for up to 60 hours of Smart Mode battery life. It includes heart-rate and blood-oxygen monitoring, sleep and breathing-risk features, cycle tracking, and 360 Mind and Body.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Phone, app, and software requirements
The standard U.S. Watch 3 requires the OHealth app and an Android phone running Android 9.0 or later with compatible Google Mobile Services. iPhones and Android Go devices are not supported.
Before relying on a health feature, confirm that:
- your phone supports the required Android and Google Mobile Services versions;
- OHealth is available in your country;
- the watch and app have current software;
- the feature appears for your region and model; and
- health, Bluetooth, notification, and background-sync permissions are enabled.
Menus and feature names can change with over-the-air updates. Health history also depends on synchronization with OHealth; the watch’s standalone on-device history is more limited than the app’s longer-term records.

Common problems and what to check
ECG is missing
Check the country setting, watch model, OHealth region, firmware, and app version. A missing ECG option is more likely to reflect regional certification or software support than a defective sensor.
The health scan will not start
Wear the watch snugly, touch the correct scan contact, and remain still. Poor skin contact, movement, or an incorrect finger position can interrupt the scan.
Temperature data is delayed or inconsistent
Allow enough overnight wear for a personal baseline. Also consider ambient temperature, loose fit, exercise, sleep position, and time spent charging.
There is no historical data
Open OHealth, complete synchronization, and review the app’s permissions and background activity settings. Some insights require several days of prior data rather than a single scan.

Should you buy the OnePlus Watch 3 for health tracking?
| Your priority | Verdict |
|---|---|
| Long battery life plus broad Android wellness tracking | The standard 46mm Watch 3 is a strong candidate, particularly if Wear OS apps and infrequent charging matter. |
| ECG in the United States | Do not buy it expecting ECG. Verify current U.S. support before purchase. |
| iPhone compatibility | Choose another platform; OHealth does not support iPhone. |
| Small, light watch | Consider the 43mm model, but accept its different health-feature package. |
| Serious endurance training | Compare Garmin’s training, navigation, and sports tools rather than choosing by sensor count. |
| Sleep and recovery first | Fitbit or Oura may be a better match for a passive, sleep-focused experience. |
| Google or Samsung ecosystem | Pixel Watch or Galaxy Watch may fit better depending on phone, country, and authorized health features. |
The standard Watch 3’s main appeal is the combination of long claimed battery life, Wear OS, and a broad wellness feature set. Its main weaknesses are regional ECG restrictions, the large 46mm format, Android-only compatibility, and the gap between consumer-friendly health branding and clinical measurement.
