The Orion Field Standard II is a 39 mm field-style watch with a Miyota 9039, sapphire crystal and 100 m water resistance. Orion’s current listing identifies this revised model as discontinued and says it will not be restocked, so the $725 displayed price should not be read as confirmation of new-stock availability. This review separates the II’s documented specifications from the earlier Field Standard’s history and a reviewer’s subjective impressions.
Which Orion Field Standard is this?
Orion’s current product page lists the Field Standard II, not an undifferentiated or original-generation Field Standard. Its model identity matters: Orion’s gallery describes the original as a traditionally styled field watch with applied arrowhead indices, developed from a popular Seiko mod and based on the Orion 1 platform. A 2022 Watch Clicker review frames the revised release in connection with Orion’s Hellcat case. Do not assume an original-generation watch shares the II’s specifications.
The early design also has a longer history: Orion founder Nick Harris’s 2016 prototype account discusses wave-cut indices, mountain-cut hands, polished elements and C3 lume. Those are prototype details, not verified specifications for the Field Standard II.

How the size and movement shape the proposition
The 39 mm diameter and 47 mm lug-to-lug provide a compact stated footprint compared with many larger field-watch cases, while the 10.5 mm caseback-to-crystal measurement is relatively restrained on paper. Wrist fit still depends on wrist shape and the watch’s overall proportions; dimensions alone cannot establish how it will wear.
The Miyota 9039 is listed without a ghost date position. That avoids an unused date-setting position on a watch with no displayed date, a small but relevant usability detail. The screw-down crown and 100 m rating are useful practical specifications, but the rating is not a substitute for following Orion’s care guidance or checking the condition of a specific used watch.

Dial, bracelet and reviewer impressions
Orion specifies blue BGW9 lume and clarifies an important limitation: only the large numerals glow; the small numerals do not. That distinction helps set expectations if nighttime legibility is a priority.
Watch Clicker’s reviewer praised the case profile and dial design and described the bracelet articulation as comparable to a quality oyster-style bracelet. The same review suggested a more aggressive bracelet taper might better balance the watch. These are the reviewer’s impressions, not controlled measurements or hands-on findings for every wearer. Strap sizing and compatibility
Orion lists a 20 mm lug width, so 20 mm is the nominal strap width to consider. Width alone does not guarantee that a strap will fit: verify the end shape, spring-bar clearance and attachment arrangement for the exact watch and strap, especially if buying a fitted or unusually shaped end.
Availability and price
Orion’s listing states: “This model is discontinued and will not be restocked.” The page displayed $725 when accessed in 2026, but the figure is date-sensitive and does not establish that a new example is available to order. Resale availability and market prices are not established here. Check Orion’s listing for any status change before making a purchase decision.

Verdict
The Field Standard II’s appeal, based on its published specification sheet, is a balanced set of compact dimensions, a no-date Miyota 9039, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and 100 m water resistance. The key caveats are that the lume is limited to the large numerals, bracelet judgments are subjective, and Orion lists the model as discontinued. Treat this as a review of the revised II, not a proxy for the original Field Standard.
