The Oris Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 114 pairs a large 44 mm pilot-style case with a hand-wound movement rated for 240 hours of power reserve and a GMT hand adjustable in half-hour steps. That combination is unusually practical for tracking a second time zone with a non-whole-hour offset, but the watch’s size, intricate dial and regional pricing make fit and value personal decisions.
What is the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 114?
Reference 01 114 7746 4063-Set 8 22 19 is a stainless-steel pilot-style watch built around Oris’s hand-wound Calibre 114. The movement evolves the Calibre 110 platform with a GMT display while retaining its long reserve and non-linear power-reserve indicator, according to Hodinkee’s March 2018 launch coverage.
The dial has central hour and minute hands, subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock, a central GMT hand, date, and a reserve display at 3 o’clock. This is a feature-rich layout rather than a minimalist one: the GMT and reserve information add useful functions, but also make the face busier than a basic three-hand watch.
How long does the Oris Calibre 114 power reserve last?
Oris specifies a 240-hour, or 10-day, power reserve. The manually wound movement runs at 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour). The reserve display is non-linear, so its indication should not be read as a simple, evenly spaced countdown of remaining hours.

In its test, WatchTime reported that the rate remained relatively consistent until the indicator approached the red zone around the eighth day. In that particular test, the watch continued running after its rate behavior was no longer satisfactory. That is a publication’s result for its test watch, not a guarantee of how every example will perform.
Can the GMT hand be set in half-hour increments?
Yes. Oris specifies half-hour adjustment for the central GMT hand, which indicates a second time zone against the dial’s 24-hour scale. This allows the displayed zone to reflect offsets that are not a whole number of hours.

Hodinkee characterizes the arrangement as a caller-style GMT: the wearer adapts the second-zone hand while local time and date continue to operate normally. It is therefore useful for checking the time elsewhere, but its described adjustment behavior is different from a traveler-style setup in which local time is the independently adjusted display.
How big is the Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 114?
Oris lists a 44 mm stainless-steel case. WatchTime measured its review watch at 44.31 mm in diameter and 14.26 mm thick, and reported a weight of 182 g on the steel bracelet. Those measured figures belong to WatchTime’s example; they are not Oris’s nominal case dimensions.

A 44 mm case is a substantial starting point, and thickness and bracelet weight can affect how it wears as much as diameter. The available specifications cannot establish whether it will suit a particular wrist. If possible, try it on with the strap or bracelet you expect to use, checking how the lugs sit and whether the watch moves or catches during ordinary wear.

What does the red zone on the power-reserve display mean?
The red zone marks the low end of the reserve indication; it does not promise a precise number of hours remaining. The indicator is non-linear, and WatchTime’s test found that rate behavior deteriorated as its example approached the red area near day eight. If timekeeping matters, wind the watch before relying on it near that part of the scale rather than treating the display as an exact running-time meter.

The stated dimensions and WatchTime’s bracelet weight make this a watch to assess in person if you are sensitive to large or heavy watches. The available evidence establishes measurements, not comfort, balance, crown clearance or legibility in your actual use. Check those points on your wrist instead of assuming that the pilot styling or long reserve guarantees an easy daily wear.

Oris lists a 22 mm interhorn width and offers strap variants. For a replacement 22 mm watch strap, confirm the exact reference, end shape, attachment method and hardware before buying; width alone does not establish compatibility with a particular third-party strap.
What does it cost, and is it worth the price?
Prices and availability differ by market and can change. When accessed for this review, Oris’s US page displayed USD 7,500 and said the reference was not available online, directing customers to stores. Oris’s UK archived listing displayed GBP 5,200. These are separate regional listings, not interchangeable prices or confirmation of stock at every retailer. Check the current Oris US archive and Oris UK archive, then confirm local availability with Oris or a retailer.
For context, Hodinkee reported launch prices in 2018 of USD 5,800 on textile, USD 5,900 on a steel bracelet and USD 6,100 on crocodile leather, with availability expected in June of that year. Those are historical launch figures, not current quotes.
The case for the Calibre 114 rests on a distinctive combination: a hand-wound 10-day reserve, a half-hour-adjustable second-zone display and a pilot-watch format. Whether that justifies the listed regional price depends on whether you value those particular functions and find the case comfortable. The available specifications and review evidence do not establish a best alternative or a like-for-like rival price, so compare any candidate by its case dimensions, winding type, reserve, GMT adjustment, water resistance, dial layout, local price and warranty.
Warranty details to confirm
Oris’s selected US listing displays a two-year warranty and says MyOris membership can extend it free to five years. Eligibility and terms may depend on the reference and market, so confirm the applicable conditions with Oris in your country before relying on an extension.
