The Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 Laser is a 39 mm titanium, time-only automatic watch distinguished by a dial Oris says gets its blue, green and violet shimmer from laser-treated light reflection—not pigment. It pairs that dial with the brand’s five-day Calibre 400 movement. The reference is 01 400 7778 7150-07 7 20 01TLC; whether it is worth its price depends on how much you value the unusual dial, lightweight titanium build and long power reserve.
What is the ProPilot X Calibre 400 Laser?
It is a titanium version of Oris’s ProPilot X, with a distinctive laser-treated dial and the brand’s automatic Calibre 400 movement. The dial has no date window: it displays hours, minutes and seconds. Oris’s regional product listing specifies a 39 mm multi-piece titanium case, a titanium bracelet, 10 bar water resistance and a 20 mm interhorn width. It also lists a domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective treatment and a see-through sapphire caseback. Oris product listing
Oris lists a CHF 4,900 price on its Switzerland page, while its Hungary page lists €4,900; these are regional listings, not one universal price. Online purchase options can differ by market. Check the current local listing or an authorized retailer for price and availability.
How does the laser dial work?
Oris says the dial’s blue, green and violet appearance is created by reflected light rather than pigment. The brand describes the method as a laser technique developed in collaboration with ETH Zürich; its 2024 booklet also documents that partnership. Oris Image Booklet 2024

In its November 17, 2023 launch video, Oris called the finish “created by an innovative lasering technique coming to watchmaking for the first time.” That “first” is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently established industry-wide finding. Fratello describes the color effect as optical interference and reports that the indexes and dial text are laser-treated as well. It says small variations in the base dial affect the laser’s focal point and that each dial has a distinctive visual fingerprint; these are launch-article descriptions, not independently verified production tolerances. Fratello’s launch coverage
The practical result is a dial whose appearance can shift with the light and viewing angle, rather than a uniform color that looks identical in every setting. Craig Karger, who wore the watch for a couple of weeks for Wrist Enthusiast, observed that it could look muted or vivid depending on the lighting. Craig Karger’s Wrist Enthusiast review
Size, fit and construction
The official listing gives a 39 mm diameter. Fratello reports dimensions of 39 × 47 × 11.8 mm, while Karger reports 39 mm across, 47 mm lug-to-lug and about 12 mm thick. These are published specifications and reviewer-reported measurements, not measurements from this article. The dimensions suggest a relatively compact footprint for many wrists, but fit also depends on wrist shape and personal preference.

Karger describes the titanium case and bracelet as light and easy to wear. Fratello draws attention to the turbine-engine-inspired bezel and describes the bracelet as three-row, with angled end links that help the watch sit compactly. Fratello also notes the LIFT clasp’s airplane-seat-buckle inspiration. These are editorial descriptions; consult Oris or a retailer for current clasp details and bracelet sizing.

Calibre 400: five days between wears
Calibre 400 is an automatic movement with a 120-hour (five-day) power reserve, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). It has central hour, minute and seconds hands and no date display. The long reserve can be useful if you rotate watches: set it aside fully wound and, in principle, it can continue running for five days. Actual running time depends on the movement’s state and conditions.

Oris describes a 10-year service interval for Calibre 400. That is the manufacturer’s stated interval, not a guarantee that every watch will need no attention for a decade; servicing needs can vary. Oris’s regional listing shows a two-year baseline warranty and says MyOris registration can extend coverage to 10 years. Eligibility and terms depend on the applicable market, so confirm them with Oris before purchase. Oris product listing
Price and value: what should buyers weigh?
Fratello listed the watch at CHF 4,800 including taxes in its November 16, 2023 launch coverage. That is a historical launch-era figure, not a current quote. The surfaced Oris regional listings are CHF 4,900 in Switzerland and €4,900 in Hungary; local prices, purchase options and stock may differ.

At those listed prices, the case for buying it rests on a combination rather than one specification: a visually unusual dial, titanium construction, a five-day automatic movement and a clean no-date layout. The trade-off is that the dial’s color play is the defining aesthetic, so it is worth seeing under different lighting before deciding. The watch may appeal less to someone who prefers a conventional dial color, a date display or a lower-priced alternative.
