Casio announced the four-watch Urban Utility Series on 16 December 2024 and said it would be available online and in stores from 20 December 2024 in Singapore. Best classic square: DW-5610UU-3 and DW-5610UU-8
Choose one of these if you prefer a square digital display and the familiar, compact-looking 5600-family silhouette. Casio describes the two DW-5610UU watches as part of a collection built around practical daily wear, with muted colors and outdoors-inspired details. Layered, two-color resin bezels provide the series’ visual accent; Casio says key bezel and band resin components use bio-based resin made from renewable organic resources.
For both DW-5610UU models, Casio lists shock resistance, 20 bar water resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, multi-function alarm, flash alert and Super Illuminator LED backlight. These are the announced specifications for these specific models; they should not be taken as features shared by every square G-Shock.

Best analog-digital pick: GA-B2100LUU-5A and GA-B2100LUU-8A
If you want hands as well as a digital display, these two 2100-family watches offer a different look from the square picks. Casio describes the 2100 design as analog-digital, with an octagonal bezel and a slim case profile of about 11.8 mm for the family. The family’s carbon fiber-reinforced resin Carbon Core Guard construction contributes to that profile. Casio states shock protection and 200 m water resistance for the 2100 family; check the exact regional variant’s product page for its full specifications.
Casio lists Tough Solar power, smartphone link, hand shift, world time for 38 cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, five daily alarms and double LED light for the GA-B2100LUU. Its connected functions require a compatible phone and app setup: the linked CASIO WATCHES app offers automatic time adjustment, watch setting, world time for about 300 cities, time-and-place logging, reminders and phone finder. The app’s world-time city count is separate from the watch’s stated 38-city world-time feature.

What to compare before choosing a G-Shock
Square digital or analog-digital?
The DW-5610UU is a square digital watch. The GA-B2100LUU combines analog hands with a digital display. Casio says the GA2100’s digital display handles functions including world time, timer, stopwatch and alarms; exact functions vary by model.
Case materials and profile
The 5000 and 5600 labels do not mean every square watch has identical construction. Casio describes the original 5000 series as retaining a stainless-steel case, while 5600 models use resin, sometimes reinforced with carbon fiber or glass fiber. The 2100 family uses a slimmer analog-digital design. These are family-level distinctions; consult the exact model specifications when case material or thickness matters to you. Power and time setting
Do not assume solar charging, Bluetooth or radio-controlled timekeeping from the G-Shock name alone. Casio says some 5600 models add Tough Solar or Bluetooth, and some include Multiband 6 radio time reception. The GA-B2100LUU models in this list have Tough Solar and smartphone link. For a concrete square example, the GW-M5610-1 has Tough Solar and Multi band 6 radio-controlled time adjustment; Casio Europe lists its case at 46.7 × 43.2 × 12.7 mm and its weight at 51.7 g. Water resistance and intended use
The DW-5610UU announcement specifies 20 bar water resistance, while Casio describes 200 m water resistance for the 2100 family. Match the rating and the manufacturer’s guidance to how you intend to use a watch, and verify the exact model page rather than transferring a family specification to a different variant.

Check the complete model number
Color, regional suffixes and specifications can differ across closely named watches. Before buying, compare the complete model number on the listing with Casio’s official product information for your region. The 2024 Urban Utility announcement establishes the four names in this list, but current availability and exact regional variants need a fresh check.
