What the ceramic finish changes
Oura describes Ring 4 Ceramic as having a high-performance zirconia ceramic exterior and a seamless titanium interior. The material gives the ring a different look and feel from the all-titanium standard Ring 4. Oura launched the collection in Cloud, Tide, Petal, and Midnight, but current finish availability can differ; check the live store for colors and sizes before buying.
The finish does not mean the ring has a separate sensor generation. Oura’s comparison lists Smart Sensing and the same sensor categories for both Ring 4 versions: red and infrared LEDs for blood oxygen; green and infrared LEDs for heart rate, heart-rate variability, and sleep respiration rate; a digital temperature sensor; and an accelerometer.

Those specifications show what Oura lists for the two models. They are not an independent head-to-head accuracy test, and the available research does not establish that ceramic improves sensing performance.
Thickness, weight, and fit
Oura lists Ceramic at 3.51 mm thick and 5.1–8.1 g, compared with approximately 2.88 mm and 3.3–5.2 g for standard Ring 4. Both are listed as 7.9 mm wide. The exact feel depends on size and the wearer; the published dimensions do not guarantee a particular level of comfort.
Use an Oura Ring 4 sizing kit rather than a kit for another generation, because Oura says sizing differs slightly across generations. Ring 4 sizes run from 4 to 15. Oura advises orienting the sensors toward the palm side of the finger. A size-specific charger is included with the product.
Care: ceramic can still show marks
Ceramic is not mark-proof. Oura says the surface can scuff and take on the color of softer metals, including dumbbells or cookware. It describes these grey marks as metal transfer, which may be removable with the Ceramic Polishing Pad.

- Use the pad’s purple, non-logo side on the ceramic exterior only.
- Press and polish the affected exterior area; Oura says most marks come off after 15–30 seconds.
- Do not use the pad on the ring’s interior or on titanium styles, and do not use it with water or cleaning products.
- Reduce contact with metal objects, avoid wearing adjacent rings, and take care not to drop or strike the ring against hard surfaces.
Oura recommends wearing the ring on the non-dominant hand and taking special care around metal objects. The care instructions above describe Oura’s guidance, not an independent durability test. Oura says its online-store purchases receive a polishing pad; retailer buyers are directed to activate the ring and follow an in-app message and email to redeem one. Battery and charging
Oura lists battery life of 5–8 days and a typical charging time of 20–80 minutes. Both are estimates; actual battery life varies with size, settings, features, activity, battery age, and use.
