The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is the prettier Oura Ring 4, not a fundamentally smarter one. Its zirconia-ceramic exterior, four launch colors, and more jewelry-like appearance make it easier to wear as an intentional accessory. But the trade-offs are real: it is thicker and heavier than the titanium Ring 4, needs more care around metal and hard surfaces, and still requires an Oura Membership for its complete software experience.
At the $399 price observed during this research pass, the Ceramic model is a more compelling purchase than at its displayed $499 regular price. It makes sense for someone buying into Oura for the first time who cares strongly about color and styling. It makes much less sense as an upgrade for an owner of the titanium Oura Ring 4, because the sensing platform and principal health features are essentially the same.
What is the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic?
Oura introduced the Ceramic collection on October 1, 2025. It uses a high-performance zirconia-ceramic exterior around a seamless titanium interior, with recessed sensors on the inside. The launch colors were Cloud, Tide, Petal, and Midnight.
The design is the important change. Unlike the conventional Oura Ring 4, whose exterior is titanium with a finish, the Ceramic model is meant to look and feel more like a piece of jewelry. Oura says the color is integrated into the ceramic rather than applied as a conventional surface coating, which should help it retain its color as it ages. That does not make the ring indestructible, however: Oura specifically warns that ceramic can develop erasable scuffs and that normal scratches and dents are not generally covered by the limited warranty.

Inside, this is still an Oura Ring 4. Both versions use Oura’s Smart Sensing system, which adapts the sensing path to the wearer’s finger. Both use red and infrared LEDs for blood-oxygen sensing, green and infrared LEDs for heart rate, HRV, and respiration-rate measurements, a digital temperature sensor, and an accelerometer. The Ceramic model is therefore a material and style variation, not a new generation of health hardware.
Design: more jewelry, more ring
The Ceramic Ring 4 keeps the same 7.9 mm width as the titanium Ring 4 but adds meaningful bulk:

In practical terms, the Ceramic version is about 0.63 mm thicker and between 1.8 and 2.9 grams heavier, depending on size. Those are modest numbers on paper, but a ring is worn continuously—while working, exercising, and sleeping—so the difference is more noticeable than a specification table might suggest.
TechCrunch reported after three weeks of use that its review unit remained comfortable and lightweight despite the extra thickness and weight. The reviewer also found the ceramic less prone to fingerprints than the titanium version. Its warmer, less slick surface could initially feel slightly sticky against the neighboring finger, although that sensation became less noticeable with familiarity. This is useful hands-on context, not an independent laboratory comfort test.

The four-color launch palette should not be confused with guaranteed current inventory. During this research pass, Oura’s store displayed Midnight and Cloud at $399, with $499 shown as the struck-through regular price. The purchase-selection view captured for this review did not show all four launch colors.
Availability can vary by size, finish, retailer, and region. If a specific color matters, check the live listing before ordering rather than assuming Cloud, Tide, Petal, and Midnight are all still available in every size.

Oura recommends using the correct Oura Ring 4 sizing kit rather than relying on a conventional U.S. ring size. Ring 4 sizing uses whole sizes 4 through 15 and does not offer half sizes. Oura also recommends wearing the sizer for at least 24 hours before committing to a size.
A snug fit matters more than it does with a purely decorative ring. The sensors need consistent contact with the finger, particularly during sleep and overnight blood-oxygen measurements. The best size should feel secure without causing pain, numbness, or excessive pressure when your fingers swell.

- Try the candidate size for at least 24 hours, including overnight.
- Test it during normal temperature changes and everyday activities.

Durability and ceramic care
Ceramic has a premium feel, but “ceramic” should not be read as “scratch-proof.” Oura says the ring can develop erasable scuffs when it contacts softer metals, including dumbbells, cookware, jewelry, and some other objects. The company recommends wearing it on the non-dominant hand, avoiding adjacent rings, and removing it for weightlifting or when handling metal, ceramic, or stone objects.
That advice changes how carefree the ring is. A titanium smart ring may be easier to treat as equipment; the Ceramic model is better approached like a piece of jewelry that also happens to collect health data. Remove it before lifting weights, moving heavy cookware, handling stone, or doing work where it may strike hard surfaces. Avoid stacking another ring directly beside it if the two may rub.

TechCrunch reported that its unit survived travel, incidental bumps, contact with a railing, and dishwashing without visible permanent damage during a three-week test. That is encouraging, but it is not evidence of long-term scratch resistance. A longer ownership period could reveal scuffs or dents that a short review cannot capture.
Oura’s currently listed retail package includes the ring, a size-specific charger, a USB-C cable, and a Ceramic Polishing Pad. Packaging can vary by region or sales channel: TechCrunch noted that its review sample did not include the pad. Do not assume every review unit or retail package has identical contents.
Health tracking and the Oura app
The health case for the Ceramic model is the same Oura ecosystem available on the Ring 4. Oura lists:
- Sleep Score and sleep-stage analysis
- Blood-oxygen sensing
- Bedtime guidance
- Automatic activity detection
- Activity Score
- HRV-based stress and recovery insights
- Temperature trends
- Cycle Insights and period prediction
Oura says automatic activity detection covers more than 40 activities and that the app integrates with more than 40 other apps. The ring works with iOS and Android, connects over Bluetooth Low Energy, supports airplane mode, and receives automatic firmware updates through the Oura App. It is water-resistant to 100 meters, or 328 feet.
These are manufacturer specifications and feature claims, not independent findings about accuracy. The ring can be useful for observing patterns in sleep, temperature, activity, and recovery, but its data should be treated as wellness and physiological trend information. It is not a medical diagnostic device and does not replace professional medical evaluation.
Battery life and charging
Oura claims five to eight days of battery life for the Ceramic Ring. Actual runtime varies with ring size, settings, enabled features, activity, battery age, and usage. Oura lists a typical charging time of approximately 20 to 80 minutes, depending on how much charge remains.
TechCrunch reported charging its review unit approximately once per week over three weeks, broadly consistent with Oura’s claim. That observation is helpful but is not a standardized battery benchmark. Expect a charging pattern within the official five-to-eight-day range rather than treating one reviewer’s weekly routine as a guarantee.

The charger is size-specific. Ring 4 Ceramic and Ring 4 Titanium use the same Ring 4 charger family, covering sizes 4 through 15. Ring 5 chargers are not interchangeable with Ring 4 chargers. If you travel frequently or keep a charger at work, a spare Oura Ring 4 charger can be useful—but match both the Ring 4 generation and the ring size before buying.
Can you use two Oura rings?
Oura supports connecting more than one Oura Ring 4 or later to the Oura App and switching between them. The important limitation is that you should wear and sync only one ring at a time. Two rings do not combine into a single, richer stream of measurements.
This could suit someone who wants the Ceramic ring for daily styling and another Oura ring for a different occasion or while the first is charging. It is a convenience feature, not a way to improve sensor coverage by wearing both simultaneously.
Membership makes the real cost higher
In the United States, Oura Membership costs $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year. New members receive one included month. That complimentary month is tied to the account and does not repeat simply because an existing member buys another ring.
Membership is required for the full set of app features and insights, so the hardware price is not the complete ownership cost. Using the prices observed during this research pass:

Who should buy the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic?
Buy it if you already want Oura and care strongly about design. The Ceramic model solves a real problem for people who dislike the conventional metallic smart-ring look. Cloud, Tide, Petal, and Midnight make it easier to treat the ring as an accessory, and the less fingerprint-prone surface is a small but welcome benefit.
The $399 price observed during this research pass strengthens the case. At that price, the Ceramic version is easier to justify for a first-time Oura buyer who values the finish and accepts the membership. It is particularly appealing if the alternatives’ muted metal finishes would make you wear the ring less consistently.

Skip it as an upgrade from a working titanium Oura Ring 4. You would be paying for a different exterior while accepting extra thickness, extra weight, and more cosmetic-care precautions without a clear improvement in the underlying health-tracking platform.
