Short answer: Oura’s Cumulative Stress feature is available, and its blood-pressure tools can identify certain overnight patterns in selected regions. But the ring does not give you a conventional blood-pressure reading in mmHg. The Blood Pressure Profile study that prompted some headlines ended on August 12, 2026; for actual readings, Oura recommends a validated upper-arm cuff.
What Oura announced—and what changed
On October 20, 2025, Oura announced a redesigned app, a Stress Management view with Cumulative Stress, and an investigational Blood Pressure Profile study through Oura Labs. The study was intended to explore whether passive ring data could help identify early signs of hypertension and inform a possible future FDA submission. That was a research effort, not an announcement that the ring would soon display blood-pressure numbers. Oura’s announcement
Since then, Cumulative Stress has become an available feature for eligible members. Oura’s current support pages also describe Blood Pressure Signals and Nighttime BP, which assess patterns rather than provide systolic and diastolic readings. The Blood Pressure Profile study ended August 12, 2026. Oura’s newsroom
What Cumulative Stress tells you
Cumulative Stress is a longer-term view of physiological strain and recovery. It is not a direct reading of how emotionally stressed you feel, a cortisol test, or a diagnosis of anxiety or burnout. Oura places it alongside Daytime Stress and Resilience in its Stress Management view, which also provides a weekly rating ranging from “Needs Care” to “Thriving.” Oura’s Stress Management Hub guide

Oura does not publish a complete, independently reproducible formula for the feature. TechCrunch reported that Oura’s model incorporates signals related to sleep continuity, heart-rate stress response, sleep micro-motions, temperature regulation, and activity impact. Those are reported components, not a complete specification of how the score is calculated. TechCrunch’s report
When it appears and where to find it
Cumulative Stress requires Daytime Stress to calibrate first. Oura says new users need at least five days of consistent wear for initial Daytime Stress calibration; Cumulative Stress then requires at least 21 days of data within the previous 31 days. Oura calls for consistent daytime and nighttime wear, so intermittent use can delay or prevent a result.
- Open the Oura app and go to My Health.
- Scroll to Stress Management to view the Cumulative Stress chart, or tap the stress icon in the arc at the top of My Health.
- Toggle between Cumulative Stress and Resilience as needed.
If the app shows “Calibrating” or “Not enough data,” charge the ring, wear it consistently during the day and overnight, and check that it fits snugly enough to collect usable signals. The rolling data window must fill before the feature can show a trend.

What Oura’s blood-pressure features do
Oura separates ring-derived pattern analysis from readings taken with a cuff. Blood Pressure Signals uses nighttime photoplethysmography (PPG) data to look for blood-pressure-related patterns over 30 days. Oura requires at least 15 nights in the previous 30 nights to establish a baseline; it surfaces a pattern when it identifies one worth attention, but does not display a value in mmHg. | Feature | What it does | Shows mmHg? | Data window or requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blood Pressure Signals | Looks for nighttime blood-pressure-related patterns and may flag a pattern worth attention. | No | 30-day period; at least 15 nights in the previous 30 nights to establish a baseline. |
| Nighttime BP | Estimates overnight dipping or rising patterns, not an absolute blood-pressure reading. | No | 30-night average. |
| Cuff Readings | Lets you enter readings manually or import them from Apple Health or Android Health Connect. | Yes, from the cuff | User-provided cuff readings. |
| Blood Pressure Profile | Oura Labs investigation into passive ring data and possible early signs of hypertension; it is not a released cuffless measurement feature. | No released ring-derived reading | Study ended August 12, 2026. |
Nighttime BP groups overnight changes into four patterns: typical dipping (a 10–20% drop), reduced dipping (less than 10%), pronounced dipping (more than 20%), or rising (no drop or an increase). It does not show systolic or diastolic values. Oura’s Heart Health Hub guide
Oura says nighttime pattern analysis and cuff readings measure different things, so they may not align. Cuff readings are separate from Blood Pressure Signals, Nighttime BP, and Oura scores; importing or recording one does not turn the ring’s pattern analysis into a cuff measurement.

- Review Cardiovascular Age, Blood Pressure Signals, Nighttime BP, or Cuff Readings, depending on which features are available to you.
What happened to the Blood Pressure Profile study?
Oura lists Blood Pressure Profile as an Oura Labs study that ended on August 12, 2026, with ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT07267871. Participants can transfer cuff measurements collected during the study into the Heart Health Hub. Oura says aggregated results may later be shared in venues including conferences, journals, its website, The Pulse Blog, white papers, or reports. The support page does not establish that the study resulted in FDA clearance or a released feature that measures blood pressure without a cuff. Oura’s Oura Labs guide
Compatibility and regional availability
Oura’s support documentation lists the Stress Management and Heart Health Hubs for Gen3 or newer rings on iOS and Android with an active Oura membership. Gen2 and older rings are not supported for these hubs. A newer ring is not the sole hardware requirement: Oura’s pages identify Gen3-or-newer compatibility. Oura announced Ring 5 on May 28, 2026, and reported shipping from June 4, 2026, but feature access still depends on the relevant support requirements and rollout. Oura Ring 5 announcement
Oura lists Blood Pressure Signals, Nighttime BP, and Cuff Readings for members in the United States, India, and the United Arab Emirates. Availability can vary by region and app rollout, so check what appears in your app rather than assuming the same features are available worldwide. Membership is required for the hubs; check Oura’s current checkout information for pricing in your region.

What the ring can—and cannot—tell you
- Useful context: “My overnight blood-pressure pattern has changed over several weeks.” That is a trend to discuss or investigate, not a diagnosis.
- Not a supported result: “My ring measured 148/92.” Blood Pressure Signals and Nighttime BP do not provide that kind of reading.
- Not a safe conclusion: “There was no alert, so I do not have high blood pressure.” An absence of an alert does not prove that your blood pressure is normal.
Oura describes the features as wellness tools, not diagnostic tests. Use a validated upper-arm cuff for actual blood-pressure values and clinical decisions, and confirm concerns with a health professional. Do not change medication or treatment based only on ring data. Oura also flags circumstances where Blood Pressure Signals may not be appropriate: the feature is automatically disabled when Pregnancy Insights is in use, and Oura cautions that it may not be suitable during pregnancy or for people managing a heart condition. Is Oura a good buy for stress or blood pressure?
Consider Oura for passive wellness trends
Oura is a better fit if you want sleep, recovery, stress, and other longitudinal wellness trends from a screen-free wearable, and are willing to wear it consistently and maintain a membership. Its strength is context over time, not an exact spot measurement. Results can also be affected by inconsistent wear, fit, sleep disruption, illness, temperature, activity, and other physiological changes.
Choose a cuff for blood-pressure readings
If you need systolic and diastolic values, are managing diagnosed hypertension, or need a device for clinical monitoring, a validated upper-arm cuff is the relevant tool—not a smart ring. Oura supports entering or importing cuff readings, so the two can serve different purposes: cuff measurements for values and Oura for broader wellness trends.

Compare alternatives if you want to avoid a subscription
Readers who want a smart ring without Oura’s membership can compare current offerings from RingConn, Ultrahuman, and Samsung. Their feature sets, phone compatibility, and ecosystem strengths differ; do not assume they provide Oura’s Cumulative Stress or blood-pressure pattern features. Check current specifications before buying.
Bottom line
Oura’s earlier “coming soon” story is now out of date for Cumulative Stress, which is available to eligible members. Its current blood-pressure tools look for overnight patterns, while actual values still come from a cuff. Treat the ring as a source of longitudinal wellness context—not as a blood-pressure monitor or a way to rule out hypertension.
