The Panerai Luminor Equation of Time PAM00670 is a 47mm titanium, hand-wound Luminor that combines an eight-day reserve and a practical GMT function with a more unusual solar-time complication. Its equation-of-time indicator shows the difference between apparent solar time and ordinary civil time; it is not a second time zone. Panerai’s product page lists the watch but no numeric price, so the €21,000 figure often associated with it should be treated as a historical price published in 2020, not a current quote.
What the PAM00670 offers
The PAM00670 stands apart from a conventional Luminor through its combination of long power reserve, travel-time display and equation-of-time indication. Panerai identifies the reference as a 47mm titanium model with a blue dial and its hand-wound P.2002/E calibre. The complication is distinctive, but the GMT hand is the more straightforward everyday tool for someone tracking another time zone.

What the equation-of-time complication means
Clock time follows a standardized mean solar day, while apparent solar time follows the Sun’s observed position. Because Earth’s orbit and axial tilt make apparent solar time vary against mean time over the year, the two can differ by as much as roughly a quarter hour. The equation-of-time display represents that offset, not a location or another time zone.

On the PAM00670, Monochrome describes a linear indicator with a range from −15 to +15 minutes. Its indication is coordinated with the calendar: Monochrome says setting it follows adjustment of the date and month. The complication gives an enthusiast a way to see the relationship between civil time and solar time, rather than serving as a substitute for a conventional time-zone display.
How the GMT and other indications differ
The GMT hand supports the practical task of following a second time zone. The equation-of-time indicator answers a different question: how far apparent solar time is ahead of or behind mean civil time. The watch also displays a date, small seconds, power reserve and month indication, while Panerai lists world-time and GMT differential functions.

Monochrome notes that the GMT display has no 24-hour scale and discusses its AM/PM indication. That is worth considering if you expect a glanceable, independently numbered 24-hour travel scale. The equation-of-time display is an additional complication, not a replacement for that kind of GMT layout.
Wrist presence and wearing considerations
A 47mm case is substantial, and the PAM00670 is best considered by trying it on rather than assuming a particular fit from diameter alone. Monochrome’s reviewer describes the titanium watch as imposing yet light. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a guarantee of comfort: wrist shape, strap adjustment and personal tolerance for a large case all matter.

The movement is hand-wound, which is part of the ownership experience as well as a practical preference. Buyers should be comfortable winding the watch rather than expecting an automatic calibre. Panerai lists an eight-day reserve, but that specification does not remove the need to understand the winding and setting routine for this particular reference.
