Both watches use Panerai’s P.9010 automatic mechanical calibre, with 31 jewels, two barrels and a frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour. The stated power reserve is 72 hours. Functions include hours, minutes, small seconds, date and an immersion-time calculation using the rotating bezel.
Case, dial and water resistance
Each reference has a 47 mm Carbotech case, a unidirectional rotating Carbotech bezel and a titanium caseback. The black camouflage-carbon dial has luminous markers, with the date at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Panerai’s 2019 press kits state water resistance of 30 bar, approximately 300 metres.

What the Marina Militare name signifies
Panerai’s English press kit says the Marina Militare collaboration followed the Italian Navy granting a licence to use the “Marina Militare” trademark, organized through Difesa Servizi S.p.A. That explains the name’s connection to the Italian Navy; it is not evidence that either reference was endorsed for a particular dive or deployed in military service.

Those details describe PAM02979, not automatically PAM00979 or PAM00961. The available official material does not establish that PAM02979 is a renumbering or successor to either earlier reference.
