Parmigiani Fleurier’s 2022 watch releases centered on the then-new Tonda PF family: a discreet dual-time GMT, an openworked Skeleton and a platinum Flying Tourbillon. The brand also extended the lineup with two sportier Tonda GT Chronographs. Together, the five headline versions showed how the maison could add complications without making every watch look alike.
What did Parmigiani Fleurier release in 2022?
At Watches and Wonders Geneva in 2022, Parmigiani Fleurier presented the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante alongside four other novelties: the Tonda PF Skeleton, Tonda PF Flying Tourbillon and two Tonda GT Chronographs. The GT versions had different calendar functions, so the roundup amounts to five watches across four model names. The brand’s March 29, 2022 press release called the GMT Rattrapante a world premiere and described its aim as bringing a horological complication together with simplicity and purism.
The releases were not five variations on one idea. The GMT hid its second time-zone hand when it was not needed; the Skeleton made movement architecture the focal point; the Flying Tourbillon paired a visible complication with a platinum case and dial; and the GT Chronographs brought timing and calendar functions into a sportier design.
How does the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante work?
The GMT Rattrapante displays home time with one hour hand and keeps a second, rose-gold hand concealed beneath it. Pressing the pusher at 8 o’clock advances the upper hand in one-hour steps to show local time, while the lower hand continues to indicate home or reference time. Pressing the rose-gold pusher integrated into the crown returns the advanced hand over the other one.

That on-demand display is the watch’s defining idea: it provides a second time reading when useful, then restores a single-hand appearance. Parmigiani’s current Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante page identifies the movement as self-winding Calibre PF051, with a 22-carat rose-gold micro-rotor, 215 components and a 48-hour power reserve. These are current manufacturer specifications, not independent performance measurements.
The original configuration unveiled in 2022 was Milano Blue, in stainless steel with a platinum knurled bezel. The current product page also shows Verzasca Green and a rose-gold version; those present-day offerings should not be mistaken for proof that all three were part of the 2022 launch lineup.
What distinguishes the Tonda PF Skeleton?
The Skeleton turns the movement into the dial-side visual focus. Parmigiani said its PF777 caliber was designed as an openworked movement, rather than made by simply cutting away parts of an existing caliber. The 40 mm watch was offered in 18-carat rose gold or in stainless steel with platinum.

The manufacturer’s 2022 specifications list 187 movement components, a 22-carat rose-gold oscillating weight and a balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. These figures describe the maker’s published specifications, not independently tested results. Compared with the GMT’s deliberately restrained display, the Skeleton is the choice in this group for someone who wants the mechanics to remain visible.

Why was the Tonda PF Flying Tourbillon the platinum statement watch?
Parmigiani’s Flying Tourbillon combined a 950 platinum case and sandblasted platinum dial with automatic in-house Calibre PF517, which uses a platinum micro-rotor and a flying tourbillon. The brand’s 2022 launch specifications give a 42 mm diameter, 8.6 mm thickness, 100-meter water resistance and 207 movement parts.
It is the most explicitly precious-metal and complication-forward watch in the group. The published water-resistance figure is a manufacturer specification; it does not by itself establish suitability for every water activity.

How did the two Tonda GT Chronographs differ?
The Tonda GT broadened the 2022 releases toward a sportier, more everyday design than the purist Tonda PF watches. Parmigiani presented two chronograph versions, differentiated by both material and calendar function:

The comparison is necessarily partial: the published 2022 overview does not provide a consistent set of dimensions and water-resistance figures for all five watches. The figures shown are the ones attributed to the launch materials, except for the GMT’s 40 mm case, which is listed on its current official product page.

Why 2022 stands out in Parmigiani Fleurier’s lineup
The year’s strength was focus rather than sheer variety. The GMT Rattrapante offered a practical travel complication without leaving a second hand permanently on display; the Skeleton and Flying Tourbillon gave the Tonda PF family two distinct ways to foreground mechanics; and the GT Chronographs extended the brand’s design language toward a sportier format.
That range gives the roundup a clear internal logic: restrained dual-time utility, openworked movement display, high-complication precious-metal watchmaking and two chronograph-calendar interpretations. It is a more useful way to understand the year than treating the releases as a single uniform collection.
