The Patek Philippe 5930G combines a world-time display with a self-winding flyback chronograph. Its city disk and 24-hour ring show time across 24 zones, while a central chronograph hand and 30-minute counter add elapsed-time measurement. The original configuration pairs an 18K white-gold case with a blue hand-guilloché dial and navy alligator strap. Patek Philippe lists the 5930G as discontinued as of October 8, 2026.
What is the Patek Philippe 5930G?
Introduced at Baselworld in 2016, the Ref. 5930G brought together two complications Patek Philippe described as long-standing specialties: World Time and a self-winding flyback chronograph. The manufacturer said the only earlier example it knew of was a one-off World Time Chronograph wristwatch, No. 862 442, dated 1940 and held in the Patek Philippe Museum. The original 5930G launch configuration has an 18K white-gold case, blue hand-guilloché dial center, and navy alligator strap. Patek Philippe’s 2016 launch release describes the design and movement.
How does the 5930G work?
Reading the World Time display
The outer city disk names 24 time zones. The rotating 24-hour ring indicates the time in the zone represented by the city at 12 o’clock, and its light and dark portions distinguish day from night. Patek’s 2021 release describes the family function this way: “The World Time function simultaneously displays the time in 24 time zones.” That statement appears in Patek Philippe’s 2021 Ref. 5930P-001 release; it describes the shared World Time function, not a specification unique to the 5930G.
Changing the indicated time zone
Pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock advances the city disk, 24-hour ring, and local hour together in one-hour steps. Patek says this adjustment does not change the movement’s rate accuracy. It is a coordinated way to reset the displayed local zone rather than a separate adjustment of the city and hour indications. Patek’s technical description explains the pusher’s operation.

Using the flyback chronograph
The chronograph uses a central seconds hand and a 30-minute counter. A flyback lets the user restart timing immediately, without first stopping and resetting the chronograph in separate actions. Patek’s technical material also identifies a vertical clutch, which allows the central chronograph hand to run continuously as a seconds display. The city and 24-hour rings occupy much of the dial, so the chronograph indications are integrated into a display already carrying substantial information; whether that arrangement feels clear depends on the wearer and viewing conditions.

The movement figures are Patek Philippe’s published specifications, not independent performance-test results. The case measurement is attributed to Hodinkee’s contemporary report, rather than presented as an official technical-sheet figure. Jack Forster’s March 24, 2016 Hodinkee hands-on report gives the 39.5 mm × 12.86 mm dimensions and calls the case classically sized. Phillips Perpetual’s catalogue page identifies the 5930G-001 as white gold with an automatic CH 28-520 HU, but displays a conflicting 40.5 mm diameter; that figure is not reconciled here. What reviewers noted about wearing it
These are reviewers’ impressions, not universal fit or legibility claims. In his March 2016 report, Hodinkee’s Jack Forster observed that the World Time elements visually predominate. His description of the case as classically sized is an editorial judgment, not a guarantee that the watch will feel small or comfortable on every wrist. That status means a buyer should treat the 5930G as a secondary-market search, not assume it can be ordered new from Patek Philippe. Listings, prices, and stock change, and no current price or availability is established here. Before considering a specific example, assess its condition and provenance and verify the reference and configuration with the seller; an old catalogue listing alone does not establish that a watch remains available or authenticate a particular example.
