Patek Philippe is widening its women’s watch strategy in two directions at once: serious mechanical complications intended for everyday wear and a larger, explicitly jewelry-led design range. The 2025 Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar provides the mechanical proof point; the 2026 Gondolo Ladies First collection adds six shaped, gem-set references. Together, they move the portfolio beyond the idea that a women’s Patek must be primarily a diamond-set gift.
What Patek Philippe means by “more aggressive”
President Thierry Stern has said Patek historically relied heavily on diamond-set feminine watches because “that’s what had always worked.” His newer approach starts with a different assumption: women increasingly want watches they can wear every day while still getting meaningful watchmaking.

In a 2025 CNA Luxury interview, Stern said women “want pieces they can wear confidently throughout the day without compromising on mechanical sophistication.” He also described the objective as “a true daily watch, designed for the woman who understands the craft, beauty, and technical excellence behind a Patek Philippe timepiece.”

- Shaped, Art Deco-influenced watches such as Gondolo Ladies First.
- High-jewelry executions that continue Patek’s established gem-setting expertise.
The change is also commercially significant. Stern told WorldTempus in 2026 that women account for 36% of Patek Philippe watches sold, while the Twenty~4 represents 10% of the company’s sales. Those figures indicate a substantial women’s business, not a niche experiment.
The 2025 Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar is the mechanical proof point
What changed in the Twenty~4 family
Patek Philippe’s Watches and Wonders 2025 release called the Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar the collection’s “very first complication.” It uses the ultra-thin, self-winding caliber 240 Q and presents the perpetual calendar through three subsidiary dials and a moon-phase aperture.
It was also the first round Twenty~4 that was not gem-set. CNA Luxury described the launch as the first complication in the ladies’ line without diamonds. That combination matters: Patek added one of its most demanding calendar mechanisms to a women-specific daily-wear design without making jewelry the defining feature.

Why a perpetual calendar matters
A perpetual calendar tracks the differing lengths of months and the leap-year cycle, reducing the need for manual correction under normal use. It is a substantially more involved complication than a time-only watch, and caliber 240 Q does so in an ultra-thin self-winding format suited to regular wear.
The model therefore answers a question collectors have often had about women’s Patek Philippe watches: where is the mechanically serious option that does not require a sporty men’s case or an all-diamond presentation? The Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar is Patek’s clearest answer so far.
What is the 2026 Gondolo Ladies First?
Six Ref. 7043 versions in one shaped case
Patek Philippe unveiled Gondolo Ladies First in Milan on October 1, 2026. The collection consists of six Ref. 7043 references, all using a 31 × 34.8 mm cushion-shaped case.

Three versions have partially set designs, while three Joaillerie versions use substantially more gem-setting. WorldTempus reported executions in white gold, rose gold, or a combination of the two, with blue-gray, chestnut, silvery, blue, green, and purple treatments across the range.

Quartz as a deliberate counterpoint
Unlike the mechanical Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar, Gondolo Ladies First is powered by Patek’s E15 quartz movement. WorldTempus said roughly 20% of the movement’s components are electronic, with the remainder made using methods also used for mechanical calibers.
The choice is strategic rather than a retreat from watchmaking. Quartz offers straightforward, low-maintenance daily use, while the cushion case, Art Deco geometry, and gem-setting make Gondolo a distinctly jewelry-oriented proposition. The collection gives buyers a high-jewelry option without pretending it serves the same purpose as a perpetual calendar.
Reported launch prices
Hodinkee reported U.S. launch prices from $37,510 to $68,768. These are reported launch prices for the six 2026 references; availability, regional pricing, taxes, and future production changes can affect what a buyer actually pays.
How the main women’s Patek families differ
| Family or model | Movement | Complication | Gem-setting | Case and wearing context | Price information |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar (2025) | Self-winding mechanical, caliber 240 Q | Perpetual calendar with three subsidiary dials and moon phase | First round Twenty~4 that was not gem-set | Round case; positioned as a refined daily watch | Not stated in the cited material |
| Gondolo Ladies First Ref. 7043 (2026) | Quartz, E15 | Time-only | Three partially set and three fully gem-set Joaillerie versions | 31 × 34.8 mm cushion case; dress and high-jewelry use | $37,510–$68,768 reported launch range |
| Aquanaut Luce Annual Calendar Ref. 5261R-001 | Self-winding mechanical | Annual calendar | Non-gemset | Blue-gray dial and strap; sporty, casual-chic positioning | Not stated in the cited material |
| Aquanaut Luce Ref. 5268/200R-010 | Not stated in the cited material | Not stated in the cited material | 48 diamonds on the bezel | Taupe dial, integrated strap, 120 m water resistance; sporty daily wear | Not stated in the cited material |
This comparison shows why the strategy is broader than a single “women’s watch” look. The Twenty~4 supplies a compact mechanical complication; Gondolo emphasizes shape and jewelry; Aquanaut Luce covers a more casual, water-resistant setting.
Patek Philippe’s women’s-watch history
The current expansion extends a program that has been developing for decades:
Rank #3
| Year | Milestone |
|---|---|
| 1980 | Introduction of the Ladies’ Nautilus |
| 1993 | Gondolo collection begins |
| 1999 | Steel, diamond-set Twenty~4 launches |
| 2004 | Aquanaut Luce begins |
| 2009 | Ladies First reaches a chronograph milestone |
| 2018 | Twenty~4 Automatic introduced |
| 2025 | Twenty~4 receives its first complication, the perpetual calendar |
| 2026 | Gondolo Ladies First launches with six Ref. 7043 versions |
The timeline, reported by ELLE in collaboration with Patek Philippe, makes clear that women’s watches are not a newly discovered category for the manufacture. What is changing is the range of movements, silhouettes, and intended use cases offered within it.
What this means for buyers and collectors
If mechanical watchmaking is the priority
The Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar is the strongest fit among these launches. Its self-winding caliber and perpetual-calendar display provide the technical substance Stern identified as increasingly important, while the non-gem-set round case keeps the emphasis on the watch rather than on diamonds.
If ease of use and jewelry design come first
Gondolo Ladies First makes a different case. The E15 quartz movement is simpler to live with than a mechanical perpetual calendar, and the cushion-shaped case plus graduated gem-setting create a more overtly decorative watch. The six-reference structure lets buyers choose between a partially set design and a much more fully jeweled Joaillerie execution.

Aquanaut Luce remains the relevant lane. The annual-calendar Ref. 5261R-001 demonstrates that a women’s watch can combine a complication with a non-gemset, sporty presentation. The Ref. 5268/200R-010 adds diamonds but retains an integrated strap and 120 m water resistance for a more casual setting.
How to evaluate a purchase
- Decide whether you want mechanical interaction and a complication or quartz convenience.
- Separate the case and movement decision from the gem-setting decision; Patek now offers meaningful choices on both axes.
- Check the exact reference, metal, dial color, and setting level because the Gondolo range varies substantially across six versions.
- For pre-owned buying, verify the reference, movement, service history, and the stated regional price rather than treating the reported U.S. launch range as a universal market value.
The strategic takeaway
Patek Philippe’s “more aggressive” women’s strategy is best understood as portfolio expansion. The Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar proves that a women-specific watch can carry a major mechanical complication and remain an everyday design. Gondolo Ladies First proves that the company is also willing to broaden its shaped, jewelry-led offerings rather than funnel every buyer into the same round or sporty format.
Diamonds remain central to parts of the range, but they no longer define the entire proposition. With women representing 36% of watches sold and the Twenty~4 alone accounting for 10% of sales, Patek is treating women as knowledgeable buyers and collectors with distinct preferences in mechanics, wearability, case shape, and jewelry.
