What is the Patek Philippe 5370R?
The Ref. 5370R-001 is a Grand Complications wristwatch built around a split-seconds chronograph. Patek Philippe’s 2025 press material calls it the first rose-gold version of the Ref. 5370. It combines the reference’s rattrapante timing function with a warm-toned enamel dial and a manually wound chronograph movement.
The dial is made on an 18K gold plate. Patek specifies brown Grand Feu enamel for the main surface, with beige champlevé enamel on the subsidiary dials and tachymeter scale. How does the split-seconds chronograph work?
A split-seconds chronograph, also called a rattrapante, can record an intermediate time while the chronograph continues measuring the overall interval. It uses two chronograph seconds hands: one can be stopped to read a split time while the other keeps moving, then the separated hand can rejoin it. Patek Philippe identifies the 5370R as a split-seconds chronograph and describes an isolator in its mechanism in the 2025 press material.

What movement is in the 5370R?
The watch uses Patek Philippe’s manually wound CHR 29-535 PS, a split-seconds chronograph movement with column wheels and a horizontal clutch. It has an instantaneous 30-minute counter and small seconds. The brand’s current model specification gives the movement a 29.6 mm diameter, 7.1 mm thickness, 312 parts and 34 jewels. Its stated minimum power reserve is 65 hours with the chronograph disengaged; its frequency is 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour (4 Hz). It has a Breguet balance spring and bears the Patek Philippe Seal. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured performance figures. How the movement fits Patek Philippe’s chronograph history
Patek Philippe says it introduced its first proprietary manually wound chronograph movement, CH 29-535 PS, in 2009, describing six patented innovations in that movement. The 2025 press material describes seven patented innovations for the 5370R’s movement. Those are separate descriptions; the six-innovation figure for the 2009 introduction should not be read as the total for this specific watch. How the 5370R differs from the platinum 5373P
Patek Philippe’s chronograph overview positions the platinum Ref. 5373P as a left-handed split-seconds monopusher with a perpetual calendar.
