Core Devices lists a $225 watch with a stainless-steel-and-polycarbonate construction, 1.5-inch color e-paper display, heart-rate tracking and a manufacturer-estimated battery life of up to 30 days. The latest company update, however, puts the current median battery result at around 21 days, so 30 days is an upper-end estimate rather than a guaranteed everyday figure.
What Pebble Time 2 is
Pebble Time 2 is Core Devices’ revival of the Pebble brand, developed by Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky around the open-source PebbleOS ecosystem. Older coverage called the project Core Time 2; it was renamed after Core Devices reacquired the Pebble trademark. It is a new product, not the canceled 2016 Pebble Time 2 project finally reaching stores.
The watch follows Pebble’s original priorities: an always-visible e-paper screen, physical controls, notifications, watchfaces and apps, and weeks rather than days between charges. It is not designed to replace a phone or match the sports analysis and app integration of an Apple Watch, Garmin or Wear OS device.
The current product listing shows Pebble Time 2 in stock and shipping within 48 hours, checked August 18, 2026: official product page.

Core Devices also advertises more than 10,000 watchfaces and apps in the Pebble ecosystem. The software is open source, but the complete hardware, app distribution and support experience remain controlled by Core Devices.
Is the 30-day battery claim realistic?
There are three different battery figures to keep separate:
- 30 days: the product-page estimate and the approximate figure in hardware and developer documentation under typical-use assumptions.
- Around 21 days: Core Devices’ reported current median as of July 14, 2026.
- Under three days: a duration the company treats as an abnormal high-consumption problem category, not normal ownership.
Backlight use, animated or frequently updating watchfaces, health tracking, power-intensive apps, battery age and lower-capacity replacement cells all reduce endurance. A light user may approach the advertised maximum; the company’s published median suggests that roughly three weeks is a more useful current expectation for ordinary ownership.
Owners whose watch lasts less than about three days should report it through the Pebble app. Core Devices says some affected units have received replacement or support even when the normal warranty period would not otherwise apply. That response is a current support practice, not a permanent contractual promise. The July update is at Core Devices’ Pebble Mega Update.

What changed in the final design?
The final watch moves toward the look of the original Pebble Time Steel rather than the plain early prototype. Its visible exterior and buttons are stainless steel, with subtle curves on the left and right edges. The official specification still says stainless steel + polycarbonate, so it should not be described as an entirely metal watch.
Controls and wearability
- Three buttons sit on one side and one on the other.
- The buttons use a textured, checker-plate treatment intended to make them easier to locate by touch.
- A touchscreen supplements, rather than replaces, button navigation.
- Standard 22 mm bands make strap replacement straightforward.
- The flat top glass is intended to reduce reflections.
The product page lists four color options. The combination of metal-forward styling, physical controls and a standard strap is aimed at former Pebble users who want a more substantial successor without giving up the brand’s simple interface.
Display trade-offs
The 1.5-inch, 64-color e-paper panel is the main reason the watch can target multi-week battery life. It remains visible without the constant power draw of an OLED panel, while the RGB LED backlight provides color illumination when needed.
That efficiency comes with clear compromises: colors are muted, animations are less fluid, and touch interaction is less immediate than on an Apple Watch or modern Wear OS model. Buyers choosing Time 2 are choosing endurance and glanceability over a bright, phone-like display.

- Heart-rate, step and sleep tracking.
- Compass and motion sensing through the six-axis IMU.

Important limitations
Core Devices does not position Time 2 as a dedicated sports watch. It lacks the depth of running, cycling, swimming, GPS, recovery and training analysis found on serious Garmin models. It also is not a polished full-feature smartwatch in the Apple Watch or Wear OS sense: buyers should not expect comparable third-party apps, health integration, communication features or notification-reply capability.

Round 2 is the closer style alternative if a circular stainless-steel case matters more than heart-rate tracking and maximum endurance. Pebble 2 Duo costs less and retains the PebbleOS approach, but its display is monochrome and its case is polycarbonate.

The July 2026 company update describes several issues. Some watches have unusually high power consumption; some have touchscreen failures or touches registering in the wrong location; and 51 reports of cracked front glass had been logged. Core Devices said it suspected software in at least some touch cases and had been providing replacements for reported hardware problems.
The company’s update also cited 330 replacements, 32 button reports and a manufacturer-calculated 0.25% cracked-glass rate. Those are Core Devices’ own support figures, not an independently audited defect rate.

- 3.7V 160mAh 0.59Wh Rechargeable Battery Pack.

- 1 Year Replacement Warranty. MPF Products is a Registered Trademark.
The official store warranty covers manufacturing defects for only 30 days after receipt. Core Devices’ willingness to handle some cases beyond that period should not be treated as equivalent to a longer formal warranty. This is a meaningful risk for a $225 device.
Water resistance is not permanent
The product table lists 30 m water resistance. That is a resistance rating, not a blanket diving or swimming guarantee. Seals can age, and opening or repairing the watch can compromise them. The developer hardware guidance explains this limitation at developer.repebble.com.
Price, shipping and alternatives
Prices and availability below were shown by the official store on August 18, 2026:
- Pebble Time 2: $225, in stock, shipping within 48 hours.
- Pebble Round 2: $199, with new orders shipping in September.
- Pebble 2 Duo: $149, sold out.
Prices are in U.S. dollars. International orders ship from Asia; local taxes, customs and duties may apply. The store noted an approximately $10 U.S. customs tariff per watch at the time checked, while non-U.S. customers are responsible for their own country’s charges.
For serious sports and training, Core Devices points buyers toward Garmin. For deeper phone integration and health features, an Apple Watch or a Wear OS model from the Google Store is the more capable category, but those platforms generally require much more frequent charging and use brighter OLED-style displays.
Who should buy Pebble Time 2?
It makes sense if you want
- Several weeks of battery life rather than daily charging.
- An always-visible color e-paper display.
- Physical buttons and a low-distraction interface.
- Heart-rate tracking in a metal-forward design.
- Open-source PebbleOS and its established watchface and app library.
- Standard 22 mm bands.
Choose something else if you need
- Advanced running, cycling, swimming or training metrics.
- Apple Watch-level app depth, health integration or communications.
- A bright, fluid OLED screen.
- A long conventional warranty or a large-company support structure.
- A completely polished, risk-free mainstream smartwatch experience.
The Bottom Line
Pebble Time 2 delivers the revived Pebble formula in a more premium-looking case: color e-paper, buttons, PebbleOS and exceptional endurance potential. Buy it for that simplicity and for battery life measured in weeks—but budget for a realistic current result of about 21 days, not a guaranteed 30, and weigh the short 30-day formal warranty and reported hardware issues before ordering.
