The July 16, 2025 Pixel Watch 4 leak was largely right about the headline upgrades: Google’s next smartwatch did gain a Cortex-M55 co-processor, a brighter display, larger batteries, and longer battery-life estimates. However, the final watch also uses Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon W5 Gen 2—not the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 the leak suggested Google might retain.
Google’s published specifications now confirm up to 30 hours of always-on-display use for the 41mm model and 40 hours for the 45mm model, compared with 24 hours for both Pixel Watch 3 sizes. The improvement comes from the entire platform—not the co-processor alone.

What the original Pixel Watch 4 leak claimed
The report published on July 16, 2025 described a Pixel Watch 4 with two case sizes, a new Arm Cortex-M55 co-processor, a brighter screen, larger batteries, and longer runtime.
It also suggested that Google might continue using the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 as the main processor. The report connected the M55 with improved artificial-intelligence and machine-learning workloads, and cited leaked language suggesting substantially greater AI capability. That stronger “5× AI workload” claim was a leak claim, not an official Google benchmark.

What Google ultimately confirmed
Google’s technical specifications confirm the Cortex-M55 co-processor, but list the main platform as the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2. That makes the final hardware more capable than the leak’s suggestion that the older W5 Gen 1 might remain.
The other major leaked details were also substantially accurate. Pixel Watch 4 has a 3,000-nit Actua 360 display, 41mm and 45mm sizes, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of eMMC storage, dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 6.0, and Wear OS 6.0. Google also highlights improved health and fitness features, sleep classification, skin-temperature sensing, Gemini-related capabilities, and satellite communication on LTE models in its official announcement.
The Cortex-M55 co-processor, explained
A smartwatch’s co-processor is a lower-power companion processor. It can handle selected background work, sensor and signal processing, and machine-learning tasks without requiring the main Snapdragon application processor to do everything.
Pixel Watch 3 used an Arm Cortex-M33 co-processor. Pixel Watch 4 moves to the Cortex-M55. Google describes the new implementation as an ML-powered co-processor that is 25% faster while using half the power.

That makes the M55 best understood as an efficiency and workload-routing upgrade, rather than simply a faster CPU. In practical terms, it may help the watch process selected health, fitness, and background tasks more efficiently, potentially reducing how often the higher-power main processor needs to be active.
It does not mean that the co-processor replaces the Snapdragon chip, turns the watch into a phone-class AI device, or runs every Gemini and app task locally. It also does not establish a specific percentage of battery savings attributable to the M55. Google has not provided a component-by-component breakdown of the runtime improvement.

Pixel Watch 4 versus Pixel Watch 3 battery life
| Model | Pixel Watch 3 battery | Pixel Watch 4 battery | Pixel Watch 3 AOD estimate | Pixel Watch 4 AOD estimate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 41mm | 307 mAh | 325 mAh | Up to 24 hours | Up to 30 hours |
| 45mm | 420 mAh | 455 mAh | Up to 24 hours | Up to 40 hours |
The 41mm battery is approximately 5.9% larger than its Pixel Watch 3 counterpart. The 45mm battery is approximately 8.3% larger. Yet the advertised always-on-display runtime increases by 25% for the 41mm model and about 67% for the 45mm model.
That difference suggests that the larger cells are only part of the explanation. The newer Snapdragon W5 Gen 2, Cortex-M55, Wear OS and system-efficiency changes, and other power-management improvements appear to contribute substantially. This is an inference from Google’s published capacity and runtime figures, not a quantified breakdown supplied by Google.
Google’s Battery Saver estimates are up to 48 hours for the 41mm and 72 hours for the 45mm. Those are not normal-use guarantees or evidence that Pixel Watch 4 becomes a multi-day watch under full functionality.
Rank #3

| Pixel Watch 3 41mm | About 24 minutes | — | About 60 minutes |
| Pixel Watch 3 45mm | About 28 minutes | — | About 80 minutes |
Google describes the new dock as charging 25% faster than the previous system. The trade-off is compatibility: Pixel Watch 4 introduces new charging hardware, so owners upgrading from Pixel Watch 3 should not assume that the older charging cable provides the same performance or works as the primary charger.
The included dock requires a USB-C power adapter rated at least 7.5W. Google does not include that power adapter.

Health features can also vary by country, regulatory approval, account setup, and software availability. ECG and blood-oxygen functions should not automatically be treated as unrestricted medical diagnostic tools.
Which Pixel Watch 4 size should you choose?
Choose 41mm for comfort
The 41mm version is the better fit for smaller wrists, lighter wear, and sleep tracking comfort. Its 30-hour always-on-display estimate is a clear improvement over Pixel Watch 3, but it gives up substantial endurance compared with the 45mm model.
Rank #4
- Google Pixel Watch has a beautiful circular, domed design and new experience with Wear OS by Google, so it’s easy to get help at a glance
- Stay on top of activity, calories burned, and more with Fitbit activity tracking
- Track your heart rate and get insight into your sleep
- Save time with things like Google Wallet for contactless payments, turn-by-turn directions using Maps, and event notifications from Calendar
- Stay connected and productive wherever you go; respond to messages, manage your inbox, and make calls right from your wrist
Choose 45mm for battery life
The 45mm model is the stronger choice if battery is the reason you are considering Pixel Watch 4. Its 455 mAh cell and 40-hour AOD estimate provide more headroom for LTE, GPS workouts, health tracking, and frequent notifications, while its Battery Saver estimate reaches 72 hours.
The larger case and 36.7g weight may be less comfortable on smaller wrists, so the endurance advantage should be balanced against fit and sleep-wear preferences.
LTE or Wi-Fi/Bluetooth?
LTE makes sense for people who exercise, travel, or make calls without carrying a phone. It is also required for Pixel Watch 4’s satellite SOS capability. However, LTE can use more power, requires an eligible carrier plan, and may involve recurring fees that vary by country and carrier.
Wi-Fi/Bluetooth is the simpler option if your phone is normally nearby. It avoids cellular service costs and is likely the better value for buyers who do not need standalone connectivity.

Pixel Watch 4 is a more compelling upgrade for Pixel Watch 3 owners who want longer manufacturer-rated runtime, faster charging, a brighter display, dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 6.0, or the newer co-processor. The move from Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 to W5 Gen 2 is also important because it was not reflected in the original leak.
Best Value
- The Google Pixel Watch 3 is designed for performance, with advanced fitness from Fitbit[1,2]; the 45mm screen is twice as bright and 40% larger than before, making it easier to see your stats and info[1]
- Maximize your performance with advanced running features; build custom run workouts and get real-time guidance and advanced form tracking[3]
- Enhance your run routine with Fitbit Premium; Google AI uses your goals, past runs, and readiness to power personalized run recommendations[3]
- Know what your body is ready for each day with readiness; it uses sleep, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability to show if you’re ready to take on a workout or prioritize recovery[3]
- Cardio load measures how hard your heart works so you can see how hard you’ve pushed; compare trends to see if you’re under- or over-training[3]
Pixel Watch 3 remains reasonable if it is substantially discounted and its battery life meets your needs. The upgrade is less urgent if you do not need the newer display, charging system, GPS improvements, or additional endurance.
Buyers seeking several days or weeks of normal use should compare larger Wear OS watches and fitness-focused models designed around more aggressive battery-saving strategies. Pixel Watch 4 improves a frequent weakness, but it remains a watch that most owners should expect to charge regularly.
The caveats behind the battery numbers
Google’s “30 hours” and “40 hours” figures are estimates under specified conditions, not guaranteed minimum runtimes. Actual endurance can change substantially with:
- LTE signal strength and phone-free calls
- GPS workouts and streamed audio
- Always-on display, brightness, and screen wake frequency
- Continuous health monitoring and sleep tracking
- Notifications, background applications, and AI features
- Temperature, battery age, and software version
The 45mm figure also needs particular care: “40 hours” refers to Google’s always-on-display estimate, while the 72-hour figure refers to Battery Saver. Those modes are not interchangeable.
Compatibility has a firm floor. Pixel Watch 4 requires most Android phones running Android 11 or newer, a Google Account, and the Pixel Watch app. It does not work with iPhone. Regional restrictions may apply to connectivity, health, and safety features.
Verdict: the leak was right about the direction, but not the complete platform
The Pixel Watch 4 leak got the important story mostly right. The Cortex-M55 co-processor, 3,000-nit display, larger batteries, 30-hour and 40-hour AOD estimates, 32GB of storage, and 2GB of RAM all appeared in the final specification set.
Its main miss was the processor picture. Google did not simply retain the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1; the finished watch uses Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 alongside the M55. The co-processor is part of a broader efficiency strategy, not a standalone explanation for the battery boost.
For buyers, the 45mm Pixel Watch 4 is the logical endurance choice, while the 41mm model prioritizes size and comfort. LTE adds phone-free connectivity and satellite SOS subject to local availability, but also brings potential service costs and higher power use. The result is a more capable and practical Pixel Watch—not a smartwatch with week-long battery life.
