Polar launched Loop on September 3, 2025; Garmin’s direct counterpart, CIRQA, arrived in a July 22, 2026 Taiwan announcement. Polar’s newest wearable overall is the conventional Street X watch, launched March 25, 2026, so the right choice depends on whether you want a discreet band or a full watch with GPS and on-device controls.
Why Polar Loop is the product this headline points to
Loop is Polar’s first screen-free wearable band. It is designed to collect everyday activity, sleep, recovery and training data without putting a display on your wrist. Results are reviewed in Polar Flow rather than on the band itself.
Polar says every Loop feature is available from the first day without a monthly subscription. The company rates continuous use at up to eight days, and its onboard memory can retain four weeks of data before synchronization. Polar CEO Sander Werring described the goal as encouraging “small consistent actions that lead to lasting change.”
What Loop does not try to be
Loop is not a miniature sports watch. Polar’s launch material does not specify onboard GPS, a display, navigation, a water-resistance rating, sport-mode count, weight or an exact HRV feature set. If you need pace, routes or workout controls without a phone, those omissions matter.

- Up to 50 hours of battery life on a single charge in training mode (up to 4 days in watch mode)

- Water resistant with GPS that tracks every step and turn
Garmin CIRQA is the long-awaited category response
Garmin’s CIRQA is its first screen-free smart band, according to Garmin Taiwan’s July 22, 2026 release. The release describes a roughly 20-gram sensor, up to 10 days of battery life, 5 ATM water resistance, sleep and recovery tools, and more than 80 sport modes. An optional upper-arm band gives it a placement choice Polar Loop’s launch material does not document.
Garmin executive Susan Lyman said the company believes health should not require a subscription. CIRQA therefore matches Loop’s no-fee premise while connecting the band to Garmin’s broader app and training ecosystem. The release does not establish whether CIRQA has onboard GPS, navigation, an exact HRV metric list or a screen-based interaction layer; treat it as a phone-led band rather than a watch replacement.
Rank #2
- Provides essential tracking for runners including time, pace, distance, laps, stopwatch on a crystal clear, always-on, MIP color display
- Up to 35 hours of battery life on a single charge in training mode; up to 100 hours in power save mode
- Perfect for men or women
- GPS tracks every step and turn
- Easy to use
Availability is currently region-specific
Garmin Taiwan lists CIRQA availability from August 3, 2026, at NT$6,990. That is a Taiwan listing, not proof of a worldwide launch date or price. Garmin’s broader regional availability and pricing are not established by that announcement.
Polar Street X is newer, but it is a different answer
Street X is Polar’s latest conventional watch, not a Loop-style band. It has a 1.28-inch AMOLED display, GPS, compass, barometer, route guidance, a flashlight and more than 170 sports. Its WR50 water resistance is intended for normal swimming and surface use, not a screen-free experience.

Which wearable fits your use?
Choose Polar Loop for quiet, all-day tracking
- You want no screen, notifications or wrist-based workout controls.
- You care about activity, sleep and recovery trends more than live pace or route data.
- You want Polar’s analysis without a recurring subscription.
- You prefer the least conspicuous form factor and are comfortable checking Polar Flow later.
Choose Garmin CIRQA if you already live in Garmin’s ecosystem
- You want a screen-free band but use Garmin’s health and training services.
- You value the longer stated battery claim, 5 ATM rating and more than 80 sport modes.
- You may benefit from moving the sensor to an upper-arm band.
- You are buying in a market where Garmin has officially announced availability; the cited price and date are Taiwan-specific.
Choose Polar Street X for GPS, maps and workout control
- You need GPS, route guidance, compass or barometric data without carrying a phone.
- You want to see metrics and start or control workouts on the device.
- You need broader documented sports coverage than the bands provide.
- You accept a watch-sized device in exchange for navigation and a display.
What “latest” means here
There are two valid answers. Street X is Polar’s newest announced product in the supplied 2026 lineup, while Loop is the relevant screen-free wearable. CIRQA is Garmin’s later entry into that same screen-free band category. Comparing Loop with Street X alone misses the form-factor decision; comparing Loop with CIRQA alone misses the need for on-device GPS and maps.
Rank #4
- Lightweight, 41g, design is ideal for runners
- Up to 35 hours of battery life on a single charge in training mode (100 hours in power save mode; 7 days in watch mode)
- High-speed processor tracks time, pace, distance, laps, and more on a crystal clear, color display
- Polar Precision Prime optical heart rate monitoring with sleep, and recovery tools for improved performance
- Features specialized training tools for 150 plus sports
Verdict
Polar Loop made the screen-free, subscription-free band a credible mainstream option, and Garmin CIRQA is the ecosystem-focused answer that arrived later. Buy Loop for unobtrusive Polar Flow tracking, CIRQA for Garmin continuity and accessory flexibility, and Street X when a real sports watch—not a silent band—is what your training requires.
