Praesidus currently lists it for $695, but its product page shows conflicting stock indicators. There is also an unresolved movement discrepancy: the current listing says Landeron L24, while a February 2025 Fratello hands-on article says Landeron L21.
What the Pacific Memorial is
Praesidus presents the A-11 Pacific Memorial as a tribute to the Pacific Campaign and the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. Its defining feature is a layered dial: black volcanic sand forms the lower surface, with an image of the flag raising on Mount Suribachi above it. That makes the commemorative scene more prominent than a conventional printed logo or date inscription.
The historical frame is deliberately concise: Praesidus and Fratello both describe the battle as lasting 36 days. The watch’s visual reference is the flag raising on Mount Suribachi; the available product material does not support a broader account of the battle. Praesidus’s collection page explains the brand’s tribute and dial concept.
Design, dimensions and wearability
Case and dial
Praesidus currently specifies a 38 mm stainless-steel case with black DLC coating, 10 ATM water resistance and a double-domed acrylic crystal. The hands are baton-shaped and treated with Super-LumiNova. Fratello’s February 21, 2025 article gives additional dimensions: 45 mm lug-to-lug and 13.2 mm thick. Those are dated editorial specifications, not dimensions stated on the current product page.

The predominantly black finish makes the Pacific Memorial the subdued option in the collection, though the Suribachi image and textured sand keep its dial visually busy. The sand is a material feature as well as a commemorative one; the official description calls it “A real fragment of Iwo Jima, sealed beneath a protective layer.” Praesidus’s product listing supplies the current case and dial specifications.
Movement: a specification to confirm
The movement information is not consistent across the available sources. Praesidus currently lists a Swiss-made Landeron L24 automatic, assembled in Phoenix, Arizona. Fratello’s February 2025 article identifies a Landeron L21 automatic and reports 28,800 vibrations per hour, 17 jewels and a 36-hour power reserve. Those details belong to Fratello’s L21 account and should not be assumed to describe the currently listed L24. Buyers who consider the caliber important should ask Praesidus to confirm the movement fitted to the particular watch being offered.

How the sand claim should be understood
Praesidus says a former Marine provided the sand after collecting it during a ceremonial visit to Iwo Jima. The brand’s account gives the dial a direct link to the island, but the available sources do not independently authenticate the sand’s provenance. Treat this as a manufacturer-stated origin story, not a separately verified certification.
Pacific Memorial versus Victory Sands
The collection has three distinct dial treatments. The Pacific Memorial is the black option with the flag-raising image; Victory Sands Orange and Victory Sands Cream put colored battle-map overlays over sand instead. Praesidus currently lists the two Victory Sands models with Ameriquartz 6130 movements, while its Pacific Memorial listing says Landeron L24. Fratello likewise describes the Victory Sands as Ameriquartz 6130 and the Pacific Memorial as automatic, but reports the latter as Landeron L21.

The most important practical split is mechanical versus quartz: the Pacific Memorial is listed as automatic, while the Victory Sands use Ameriquartz 6130. The Orange is the most conspicuous color choice; Cream leans more vintage in appearance; and Pacific Memorial emphasizes the flag-raising scene rather than a colored map. Confirm the Cream case finish for the exact listing, since the two descriptions do not agree.

As of the current Praesidus product page, the Pacific Memorial is listed at $695. Fratello reported the same price in its February 2025 article. The page simultaneously displays a “Sold out” label and in-stock purchase controls, so it does not establish whether the watch can currently be ordered. The Victory Sands models are shown at $320 on current listings, but their stock indicators are also inconsistent. Check directly with Praesidus for availability and the applicable price before making a purchase decision.

- Ask which movement is fitted to the specific Pacific Memorial: the live Praesidus listing says L24, while Fratello’s 2025 report says L21.

- If choosing Victory Sands Cream for its finish, confirm the case treatment on the specific watch listing.
- Consider whether the flag-raising image and claimed island-sand provenance are the appeal, or whether the map-overlay design of a Victory Sands model better suits your taste.
