The Depancel Série-R 01 5th Anniversary looks like a square racing chronograph, but it is a calendar watch: its sub-displays show the date, day and month, and the cited sources establish no chronograph function. The numbered 300-piece edition pairs an automotive grille-inspired design with a brushed blue dial and orange accents.
Why it looks like a chronograph—but isn’t one
Depancel draws on automotive design rather than copying a conventional round racing watch. The brand says the Série-R reworks its [Re]Naissance geometry with a visible grille shape and more aggressive lines. On the anniversary model, a fine radiator-grille texture runs across the brushed metallic-blue dial, while orange accents pick out the hand and markers. The effect gives the watch a purposeful, instrument-panel feel.

That visual language can make the dial easy to misread. Its sub-displays are for the calendar: date, day and month. Time+Tide and Monochrome Watches both describe the watch as a calendar model, not a chronograph; neither identifies a stopwatch function. The sub-dials therefore track calendar information rather than elapsed time.
What the Série-R 5th Anniversary offers
Depancel’s official product page specifies an automatic Miyota 9122 movement with hours, minutes and seconds, plus date, day and month displays. The listed power reserve is 40 hours. The caseback is transparent; Depancel says, “The transparent caseback lets you see the Miyota 9122 automatic mechanical movement.” The brand describes the edition as assembled in France and limited to 300 numbered pieces.

The official listing gives the case dimensions as 43 × 36 mm without specifying which dimension is height or width. Time+Tide reports 36 mm across by 43 mm tall, approximately 49 mm lug-to-lug and 12.95 mm thick. That publication’s measurements are useful context, but the brand does not list lug-to-lug, and its official thickness figure is rounded to 13 mm.
Strap and bracelet options
The watch was offered on embossed blue leather with orange stitching or on a metal bracelet. The listed 22 mm lug width is a practical starting point when searching for a replacement strap, but width alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the attachment and clearance at the case, as well as the strap’s shape and thickness, before ordering. The published specifications do not establish that every 22 mm strap or bracelet will fit.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Accuracy figures are inconsistent
The two launch articles report different accuracy specifications, and neither supplies an independent timing test. Monochrome Watches gives a stated tolerance of 0/+15 seconds per day, while Time+Tide reports -10/+30 seconds per day. These are conflicting publication-reported figures, not verified results for an individual watch.
Launch price and present availability
Launch coverage in 2023 listed the leather version at €795 and the bracelet version at €895. Monochrome Watches reported the bracelet as a €100 addition to the €795 price; Time+Tide reported pre-orders opening on 9 May 2023. Monochrome said availability began on 9 May, with deliveries expected in October 2023. These are historical launch details, not current prices or evidence of stock.
Depancel’s current product page displays €746 excluding taxes for the region served by that page, while the French-language page appeared as sold out in search results. Those different regional signals do not establish worldwide availability. Current Amazon stock has not been verified, so check Depancel or a retailer directly before treating the watch as available to buy.
The official page describes a five-year warranty from shipment, a 30-day withdrawal period and return shipment within 14 days after notifying Depancel. It also notes that international delivery is available and taxes and duties vary by destination. Terms can change; consult the official product page for current conditions.
