The range runs from the CIGA Design Blue Planet, listed at USD 899 in Monochrome Watches’ November 2022 guide, to the platinum Bovet Recital 22 Grand Recital, listed at CHF 465,000. How the five Earth displays differ
CIGA Design Blue Planet: a globe that doubles as the time display
The Blue Planet makes the Earth itself the central visual feature. Its rotating disc carries a three-dimensional Earth depiction; a compass rose marks the hours, while a rotating outer disc marks the minutes. The minute ring and Earth disc rotate in sync. Because this is not a conventional arrangement of hands over hour markers, reading it takes some adjustment.

MeisterSinger Edition Planet Earth: a familiar single-hand approach with a planet on the dial
This Perigraph variant puts a photorealistic Earth print in the center of a black dial and leaves the date ring exposed. It uses MeisterSinger’s characteristic single elongated hand rather than a conventional pair of hour and minute hands, so the Earth is decorative rather than a rotating timekeeping globe.

A domed central display depicts the northern hemisphere, with two pointers beneath it for hours and minutes. A 24-hour disc provides home-time information. The Universalzeit is the most direct world-time instrument of the five. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing among them
- For an unconventional, animated globe: the CIGA Design makes Earth part of the time display, but its rotating rings require a different reading habit.
- For a planet-themed dial without a globe mechanism: the MeisterSinger pairs an Earth image with a single-hand display and exposed date ring.
- For hemisphere imagery plus home time: the Arnold & Son combines a domed northern hemisphere with a 24-hour disc and separate home/local-time setting.
- For named-city world time: the Moritz Grossmann lays out 24 zones and identifies the hour in six locations.
- For the broadest set of astronomical and calendar indications: the Bovet combines a moving Earth with moon phase, day/night, retrograde minutes and a retrograde perpetual calendar.
Case dimensions and water resistance can help distinguish practical specifications, but they do not establish comfort, durability or suitability for a particular activity. The 2022 guide lists water resistance of 30 m for the CIGA and Arnold & Son, and 50 m for the MeisterSinger; it does not state water-resistance figures for the Moritz Grossmann or Bovet in the cited article.
What the historical prices and edition claims tell you
The five watches occupy very different price tiers in the 2022 article: from USD 899 for the steel CIGA to CHF 465,000 for the platinum Bovet. These amounts use different currencies and are not current, like-for-like market valuations. The guide also described the MeisterSinger as a 500-piece limited edition and the Bovet as limited to 60 movements. Neither claim tells you whether an example can still be bought today.
For a current purchase decision, check the brand or an authorized retailer for the exact variant, present price, production status and availability. The cited guide is a curated feature, not a hands-on comparison; it does not establish long-term reliability, owner satisfaction or current listings.
