Raymond Weil Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph Review: A Vintage-Style Sports Watch That Stays Legible

The Millesime Tri-Compax pairs a sector dial and three-register chronograph layout with current official claims of a 62-hour reserve. Here’s what varies by reference—and what reviewers say about fit and low-light use.

The Raymond Weil Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph has the visual ingredients of a crowded vintage sports watch—sector markings, a tachymeter and three counters—but its dial gives those details a clear order. The anthracite steel-bracelet reference, 7765-ST-60651, pairs that design with a 39 mm case, an automatic RW5030 chronograph and a current official power-reserve claim of 62 hours. Those specifications and the impressions below refer to specific listed or reviewed versions, not every Millesime configuration.

What the Millesime Tri-Compax Chronograph is

It is an automatic mechanical chronograph in Raymond Weil’s Millesime collection. The design uses a sector-style dial, three counters, a tachymeter scale and a crosshair to evoke vintage instrument watches; a glassbox-style sapphire crystal adds to that period-inspired appearance. Raymond Weil describes a vertically brushed central dial area, a snailed minute track, and luminous hands and indexes on its official listing for the anthracite bracelet model (Raymond Weil, ref. 7765-ST-60651).

The layout is busy by design, but its visual hierarchy helps: the sector tracks organize the dial, while the three subdials supply the expected chronograph instrumentation. That balance is the watch’s main appeal—not a claim that it beats competitors in a controlled comparison, which the available published material does not establish.

Which reference and specifications are covered

The clearest specification anchor is the international anthracite steel-bracelet reference 7765-ST-60651. Raymond Weil lists a 39 mm case, 12.9 mm thickness, 50 m / 5 atm water resistance, a snap caseback with sapphire crystal and glassbox sapphire with dual-sided anti-reflective coating. It identifies the movement as the self-winding RW5030 mechanical chronograph and states a 62-hour power reserve. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independently measured results.

US listing 7765-STC-50651; midnight-blue sector dial with silver counters Blue leather strap 39.5 mm in descriptive text; 39 mm in technical data; 12.9 mm thick $4,175

Prices are those displayed on the respective official regional pages when accessed; the references differ in market, dial and attachment, so the figures are not a like-for-like price comparison. Raymond Weil’s international page also lists other dial and attachment configurations. Check the exact reference and regional listing before treating a size or price as applying to a watch you are considering (international anthracite listing; US blue-strap listing).

How the dial works in practice

The three-counter arrangement is functional as well as decorative. Fratello identifies the reviewed watch’s running-seconds counter at 9 o’clock, 30-minute counter at 3, and 12-hour totalizer at 6. Its review reports a 39.5 mm diameter, 46 mm lug-to-lug and 12.9 mm thickness for that example; the manufacturer’s current anthracite listing does not state lug-to-lug, so 46 mm should be understood as a review measurement rather than a universal listed dimension (Fratello).

Fit impressions are necessarily personal. Fratello characterizes its example as wearable, Watch Advice reports comfortable wear of a rose-gold PVD variant with the same 39 × 12.9 × 46 mm dimensions, and a WatchReviewBlog reviewer says the watch fit well on their 6.5-inch wrist. Those are publication-specific experiences, not a guarantee for other wrists or configurations (Watch Advice; WatchReviewBlog).

Movement and power reserve: keep the figures distinct

Raymond Weil currently states 62 hours for the RW5030 on its official international and US product listings. Independent coverage gives different figures: Fratello reports 65 hours, while Monochrome’s launch-era review reports 56 hours. The published information does not resolve whether the difference reflects documentation versions, variants or reporting errors, so the current manufacturer claim is the clearest figure to use for the listed models—not a confirmed independent measurement (Monochrome Watches).

  • SWISS-MADE PRECISION: Powered by a reliable Swiss-made automatic movement for accurate timekeeping.
  • SPORTY AND ELEGANT DESIGN: The combination of a sporty blue dial and a sophisticated stainless steel bracelet makes this watch versatile for any occasion.
  • VERSATILE FUNCTIONALITY: The chronograph dial with date window detailing provides both style and practicality.
  • DURABLE CONSTRUCTION: The stainless steel case and ceramic bezel ensure long-lasting durability and scratch resistance.
  • ENHANCED READABILITY: The luminous hands and indexes provide excellent visibility in low-light conditions.

For movement architecture, Monochrome describes the RW5030 as Sellita SW510-based and cam-operated; Watch Advice likewise describes it as based on Sellita SWS510 and gives a 4 Hz frequency. Raymond Weil’s cited product pages do not name the base caliber, so these details remain attributed publication descriptions rather than official manufacturer specifications.

The low-light chronograph caveat

Raymond Weil describes luminous hour and minute hands and indexes, which supports reading the time in dim conditions. Fratello notes that the chronograph hands on its reviewed watch have no luminous material, making elapsed-time readings harder in low light. This distinction matters: lume on the timekeeping display does not make every chronograph indication luminous.

Who should consider it—and what to verify

The Millesime Tri-Compax is a considered option for someone drawn to vintage-inspired chronograph design who wants three counters and a dial with visible structure rather than an undifferentiated field of markings. Before choosing one, compare the exact variant rather than relying on the collection name alone:

  • Dial and contrast: confirm whether the reference is anthracite, blue, black or silver and note the counter colors and details.
  • Attachment and regional price: distinguish a steel-bracelet configuration from a leather-strap one, and consult the relevant regional listing for its current price.
  • Fit: use the stated case diameter and thickness as a starting point; the cited 46 mm lug-to-lug measurement comes from reviewed examples, not Raymond Weil’s current anthracite specification page.
  • Chronograph use: account for the reviewer-reported absence of lume on the chronograph hands if you need to read elapsed time in poor light.
  • Reserve claims: Raymond Weil’s current listed figure is 62 hours; older independent coverage does not agree on a single alternative figure.
