It has a 1.83-inch LCD and uses the paired phone’s GPS, so it is not suited to phone-free route tracking. Its battery can last well, but Xiaomi’s “up to” figures depend on usage conditions.
Choose it if you keep your phone nearby and want basic smartwatch features; look elsewhere if you need built-in GPS, an AMOLED display, or a broad app ecosystem.

Design and display
The rectangular case has a large 1.83-inch LCD with a resolution of 240 × 280 pixels and adjustable brightness up to 450 nits, according to Xiaomi. The screen gives notifications and basic watch information room to display clearly, but it is an LCD rather than an AMOLED panel. TechPP also identifies the LCD as a compromise compared with more capable smartwatch displays.
The supplied strap is removable. Xiaomi lists a strap fit range of 135–200 mm. Check the exact model and connector before buying a replacement band rather than assuming generic straps will fit.
Android and iPhone compatibility
Xiaomi lists support for Android 6.0 or later and iOS 12.0 or later, using the Mi Fitness app. Compatibility does not guarantee identical behavior across every phone, operating-system version, permission setting, or app version.
Basic setup
- Install Mi Fitness on the Android phone or iPhone you plan to pair with the watch.
- Open the app, add the Redmi Watch 3 Active, and follow its pairing instructions.
- Allow the permissions needed for notifications and background operation.
- Sync the watch and check for available firmware updates.
Pairing and call behavior can depend on the phone and its settings. Gadgets 360 describes pairing with a OnePlus 9 Pro as one review-specific Android example, not a guarantee of identical behavior across all devices.

The watch supports Bluetooth calling through its built-in microphone and speaker when paired with a smartphone. Xiaomi says users can answer or reject calls from the watch screen, but raising your wrist to answer a call is not supported. The watch does not place calls independently over a mobile network.

Do not assume Bluetooth calling includes calls from third-party apps. Xiaomi’s stated support is for Bluetooth phone calls; the dossier does not establish support for voice calls through apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Messenger.
Battery life
Xiaomi rates the 289 mAh battery for up to 12 days in typical-use mode and up to 8 days in heavy-use mode. The typical-use figure uses defined conditions, including heart-rate monitoring every 10 minutes, high-precision sleep monitoring disabled, 100 notifications per day, three alarms per day, 200 wrist-raise screen activations per day, two incoming-call notifications per day, 15 minutes of Bluetooth calls per week, and 90 minutes of exercise per week, with other settings at default, according to Xiaomi’s support FAQ.
Those are manufacturer figures tied to a usage scenario, not a promise for every owner. TechPP reports around 10–12 days with default settings and 5–6 days under heavier tracking in that reviewer’s experience. Those observations are not directly interchangeable with Xiaomi’s test conditions. Expect your result to depend on monitoring, notifications, calls, screen use, and workouts.

Fitness tracking and GPS
The watch provides basic activity and wellness tracking, including workout modes, heart-rate readings, blood-oxygen readings, and step tracking. Xiaomi lists an accelerometer among its sensors. The feature set may suit general activity tracking, but it does not make the watch a standalone sports watch.
The Redmi Watch 3 Active has no onboard GPS. TechPP reports that it uses the GPS on the connected phone, so you need to carry your phone for phone-assisted outdoor route tracking. If you want to record a route without your phone, choose a watch with built-in GPS.

Health tracking and water resistance
Xiaomi lists heart-rate and blood-oxygen sensors, but those specifications do not establish clinical accuracy. Treat readings as general wellness information rather than a basis for diagnosis or treatment decisions.
Xiaomi rates the watch at 5 ATM water resistance. That rating does not mean every water activity or environment is safe; follow Xiaomi’s guidance for the watch and do not infer suitability for activities the manufacturer has not confirmed.
Who should buy the Redmi Watch 3 Active?
It may suit budget buyers who mainly want notifications, basic workout and wellness tracking, Bluetooth calls, and compatibility with either major phone platform. It is a poor fit if you need phone-free GPS route tracking, an AMOLED display, or a broader app ecosystem.
TechPP’s 2023 review gave the watch’s India launch-era price as Rs 2,999 and compared it with alternatives in that market. That is historical, regional pricing, not a current price recommendation. Check local listings for present-day price and availability before buying.
