What makes the TYPE 5 L different?
Rather than a conventional fixed dial and hands, the TYPE 5 L uses Ressence’s ROCS 5 display: three eccentric, biaxial satellites move across a convex Grade 5 titanium dial. The L version’s defining change is its luminous treatment. Ressence says the dial’s indications are entirely filled with blue and green Super-LumiNova, creating a fully lumed presentation while retaining the TYPE 5’s oil-filled upper chamber. The model was introduced in 2024, according to Monochrome Watches’ launch coverage.
Ressence’s product page describes the display as showing hours, minutes, a 90-second runner and oil temperature. The hours satellite is inclined at 3 degrees; the thermal gauge and runner are inclined at 4.75 degrees. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance findings. How the oil-filled display is meant to work
Ressence describes the watch as having two sealed case chambers, with 3.57 ml of oil in the upper chamber. The brand says the oil cancels total internal reflection, helping keep the display legible underwater and when viewed from different angles. That is Ressence’s explanation of the optical effect; it should not be read as an independently verified test result.

The construction is part of the TYPE 5 concept, rather than a feature exclusive to the L edition. The blue-and-green luminous indications distinguish the TYPE 5 L within the line; the oil-filled display is the platform they are applied to.
Case, water resistance and dive-watch claim
Ressence lists a 46 mm Grade 5 titanium case measuring 15.5 mm thick, domed sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating, and a unidirectional bezel. The manufacturer states 10 ATM water resistance and says the watch is ISO-certified to 100 m. Its TYPE 5 overview says the model meets ISO 6425. These are claims made by Ressence; the specifications do not establish suitability for every dive, depth or use condition.

Movement, setting and winding
The TYPE 5 L is self-winding and uses the ROCS 5 module, which Ressence says is driven by the minute axle of a customized 2824/2 base calibre. The product listing specifies 28,800 vibrations per hour, 41 jewels, 25 gears and a 36-hour power reserve. Ressence’s TYPE 5 technical overview counts 142 ROCS 5 components, including the main and sub-discs. The module uses magnetic transmission and a compensating bellow system.
Unlike a watch with a conventional crown, winding and setting are performed from the caseback using the Ressence Compression Lock System (RCLS). The manufacturer’s TYPE 5 overview describes these operating details at ressencewatches.com/pages/type-5.

Price, availability and strap options
Ressence’s TYPE 5 L product listing gives a price of €45,700 including VAT, and its TYPE 5 L product finder repeats the MSRP. Both are manufacturer listings and may change; currency, tax treatment and availability depend on market and timing. Ressence offers a retailer-finding option, but a listing alone does not confirm any retailer has the watch in stock.
The product page lists leather and nylon straps in 24/22 mm sizing and provides a strap finder. The available information does not establish compatibility with third-party straps, so check fit and attachment details with Ressence or a retailer before buying alternatives.

How it compares with other TYPE 5 editions
The practical comparison points are the dial treatment, listed price, strap configuration and current stock. In the manufacturer pages surfaced with the TYPE 5 L listing, the Night Blue and Black Black versions were listed at €40,850, compared with €45,700 for the TYPE 5 L. Those prices are time-sensitive and should be reconfirmed directly with Ressence. The L edition’s premium corresponds to a distinct fully luminous dial treatment; current stock and exact strap options should be checked for each variant rather than inferred from the model name.
