How the RMUL2 is designed
Richard Mille describes the RMUL2 as a grade 5 titanium movement with a PVD-treated baseplate and Titalyt-treated bridges. The brand says the movement uses a variable-inertia balance and twin barrels, choices intended to support resistance to impacts and stable torque delivery. Those are the manufacturer’s explanations of the design, not independent performance findings.
The GPHG entry lists a 55-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Richard Mille also states that the calibre can withstand accelerations of over 500 g. That figure is a manufacturer claim; the sources cited here do not provide independent test results.

Materials and case construction
Richard Mille describes an ATZ bezel and grade 5 titanium case elements overmoulded with white rubber. GPHG gives the broader case description as titanium and lists a rubber strap. The brand’s page also attributes several technical figures to the ATZ bezel material and its manufacture: injection pressure close to 2,000 bar, a 20–30% increase in rigidity, and scratch resistance of 1,400 Vickers. These are manufacturer-reported material and process claims.
RM 055 versus the RM 038
The relationship between the two models is one of inspiration and chronology, not identical complications. Richard Mille presents the RM 038 Bubba Watson tourbillon in 2011 as the earlier watch that informed the RM 055, dated 2012. The RM 055 replaces that tourbillon context with the RMUL2 manual-winding skeleton movement; it should not be described as a tourbillon model.
