A current standard-production price range is not established by these records. The manufacturer’s model page gives specifications but no price, and the cited auction concerns a single prototype. A meaningful current comparison would need recent production-watch listings or completed sales, with condition, completeness, provenance, currency, geography and sale date identified.
What is the RM 27-02?
Richard Mille dates the RM 27-02 Tourbillon Rafael Nadal to 2015. The official model entry identifies it as calibre RM27-02, manually wound, with hours and minutes, and limits the edition to 50 pieces. The brand describes the movement as having a fast-rotating barrel that supports more than 70 hours of running without detriment to regularity.
The watch’s defining structural feature is its skeletonised “unibody” baseplate. Richard Mille says its engineers fused the caseband and baseplate into one piece, a design inspired by racing-car chassis and intended to enhance rigidity and impact resistance. The brand’s performance language describes design intent; it should not be read as an independently quantified impact-resistance result.

Case and movement construction
Unibody baseplate and bridges
The official description presents the baseplate as a single structure combining the caseband and baseplate rather than two components attached together. Grade 5 titanium bridges sit on the sculptural baseplate. The movement is manual winding and displays hours and minutes.
Carbon TPT and Quartz TPT case
The case combines Carbon TPT and Quartz TPT. According to Richard Mille, the composite layers are oriented differently and heated in an autoclave; machining then reveals a random pattern. The bezel and solid caseback are secured with 12 grade 5 titanium spline screws, and the watch has an anti-glare sapphire crystal.

Why the prototype auction is a different price reference
Phillips catalogued a Nadal-worn prototype and recorded its CHF 650,000 result against a CHF 600,000–700,000 estimate. That is a distinct object with specific provenance, not a sale of an ordinary example from the 50-piece production edition. Phillips also lists dimensions of 47.77 × 39.70 × 12.25 mm for that prototype; those measurements should not automatically be generalized to every production watch.
The auction figure is useful historical context, but it cannot by itself establish what a standard RM 27-02 currently costs. The launch price and prototype result refer to different objects, dates and market contexts, so neither should be presented as a live asking price or a current production-watch valuation.
