What is the RM 66 Flying Tourbillon?
Richard Mille describes the RM 66 as a manual-winding tourbillon movement displaying hours and minutes. Its central visual feature is a flying tourbillon positioned at 12 o’clock. The company says the tourbillon cage has no upper bridge, leaving it visually unobstructed; its description of the mechanism as appearing weightless is a design explanation from the manufacturer, not an independent performance finding. Richard Mille’s RM 66 product page calls the model a limited edition of 50 pieces.
The watch’s visual concept draws on the raised-fingers “sign of the horns.” Skeletonized details, including the openwork hand, reinforce that motif. The official video, published on 18 January 2023, describes the model as “A model that symbolizes an inflexible desire for freedom.” That publication date should not be mistaken for a confirmed launch date. The brand also specifies a variable-inertia balance with four adjustable screws and a free-sprung configuration. These are manufacturer-published technical details; the specifications page does not present independent test results for timekeeping performance.
What is the RM 66 case made of?
The case is tripartite, tonneau-shaped and fully curved. Richard Mille lists Carbon TPT for the bezel and caseback, and Grade 5 titanium for the caseband, which has polished 5N red-gold inserts. The movement’s baseplate and bridges are also Grade 5 titanium. The openwork hand is described as hand-finished 5N red gold.

Richard Mille describes Carbon TPT as layers of carbon filaments whose weave direction alternates from layer to layer. The company claims this construction improves resistance to breaking stresses and micro-cracks compared with other technically advanced carbon materials. The product page does not provide an independent test report for that comparison, so it is best understood as the manufacturer’s materials claim.
Water resistance and edition size
Richard Mille states water resistance of 50 metres, provided by two Nitril O-ring seals. This is the maker’s published rating; the product information does not specify a separate use recommendation for swimming or other activities.
