Its defining change is the case material: layered quartz fibres with 22-carat 5N pink-gold leaves embedded in the structure.
What is Gold-Quartz TPT?
Richard Mille describes Gold-Quartz TPT® as ultra-thin sheets of quartz fibres layered with leaves of 22-carat 5N pink gold, then heated at 120°C and 6 bars. The brand says it developed the material over several years with North Thin Ply Technology. The result is the distinguishing material treatment of this RM 74-02 variant; the cited sources do not establish independent performance testing of the material.
Richard Mille characterises the look as “a luminous new attire, cloaked in the ethereal glow of Gold-Quartz TPT®.” That is the manufacturer’s promotional description, rather than a technical assessment.
Which movement does the RM 74-02 use?
The watch is powered by Richard Mille’s in-house CRMT5, a skeletonised automatic-winding tourbillon movement displaying hours and minutes. The manufacturer specifies 23 jewels and a frequency of 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Variable-geometry rotor and power reserve
Richard Mille states an approximate power reserve of 50 hours, with a ±10% tolerance. The variable-geometry rotor has two repositionable weights intended to let the winding system suit the owner’s activity level. According to the manufacturer, moving the weights closer together increases inertia and makes the barrel rewind more quickly; this is the brand’s explanation of the mechanism, not an independently tested performance claim.
What are the case specifications?
Richard Mille describes the case as a tripartite construction with water resistance stated at 50 metres. It uses two nitrile O-ring seals, 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and 316L stainless-steel abrasion-resistant washers. The Fondation Haute Horlogerie lists dimensions of 52.63 × 34.40 mm and a thickness of 13.05 mm.

The official product description also specifies an 18K 5N red-gold baseplate and 18K 3N yellow-gold bridges, with microblasting and hand bevelling. These are movement-component finishes, distinct from the Gold-Quartz TPT® case material.
When was it reported, and is it available now?
Time and Watches reported the Gold Quartz TPT version on 28 February 2025, describing it as a new iteration of the RM 74-02. That is the date of the publication, not a confirmed official launch date. Richard Mille’s product page confirms the variant and its specifications but does not establish current stock, production status or a current retail offer. Check with Richard Mille or an authorized retailer for present availability.

The Fondation Haute Horlogerie lists an indicated price of CHF 519,000. Its reference page is undated, so that figure should not be read as a confirmed current retail price, an available offer or a transaction value.
