The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr. Woo Episode III is a 42 mm titanium-and-pink-gold limited edition that turns a cosmic tattoo-art collaboration into a mechanical watch. Its manually wound RD515 movement places a flying monotourbillon at 7 o’clock, while a sapphire dial depicts a rocket, nebulae and a black-hole spiral. Launched in 2025 in a run of 28, it was announced as boutique-exclusive.
What is the Dr. Woo Episode III?
Episode III is the third watch collaboration between Roger Dubuis and tattoo artist Dr. Woo. The brand identifies the model as the Excalibur Monotourbillon reference RDDBEX1125; Richemont Japan’s launch release uses the shorter reference DBEX1125. The collaboration’s earlier chapters began with Episode I in 2021 and Episode II in 2023, a ceramic-cased Excalibur Monobalancier, according to the Japanese launch announcement.
For this chapter, the central idea is the Tourbillon Galaxy, identified in the release with M51, or Messier 51a, also known as the Whirlpool Galaxy. It is not simply a galaxy-themed dial: the movement’s tourbillon bridge and cage are shaped to echo a spiral, linking the cosmic subject to the watch’s defining complication.
How the cosmic design appears on the watch
The sapphire dial is treated with pink-gold metallization and carries a small narrative in layered details. A pink-gold rocket travels across it, leaving a star-shaped trail marked “We come in peace.” Nebulae and a black-hole spiral fill out the space scene, while Dr. Woo’s spider motif and engraved symbols bring his tattoo language into the composition.

The tourbillon at 7 o’clock extends that visual idea into the mechanics. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry describes a three-arm minimalist bridge above a lightweight titanium lower cage, a structure that gives the rotating assembly a deliberately open, spiral-like appearance. The overall effect is a watch whose artwork and complication share a motif rather than sit as separate design elements.

What movement is inside?
The RD515 is a manually wound flying monotourbillon calibre. Roger Dubuis lists a 72-hour power reserve, a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and Geneva Seal certification. The brand also describes 16 hand-applied finishes on the movement.
Published specifications are not entirely consistent on two technical details. Roger Dubuis’s page gives 193 components in its movement description but 194 pieces in its technical specification block. Independent reports also differ on frequency: Fratello lists 21,600 vph and Monochrome lists 28,800 vph. The brand’s listed figure is 21,600 vph; the discrepancies are worth noting if comparing technical sheets, but do not change the core identification of the RD515 as a hand-wound flying monotourbillon.

Edition size and launch prices
The 19 June 2025 Richemont Japan announcement described the edition as limited to 28 pieces and boutique-exclusive. It listed a Japanese launch price of ¥26,675,000 including tax. Fratello’s June 2025 launch coverage reported EUR 186,000 and US$170,500 excluding tax; Monochrome reported EUR 186,000 and CHF 166,000. These are dated launch figures, not current quotes or confirmation of present inventory. No current local price or availability is established here.

The clearest distinction is the combination of subject and complication. Episode III returns to a monotourbillon, but frames it around the Tourbillon Galaxy and makes the spiral visible in both the dial artwork and the tourbillon architecture. The earlier Episode II was announced as a ceramic Excalibur Monobalancier; the available launch information does not establish a complete like-for-like specification or price comparison across all three editions.
