Roger Dubuis’s Excalibur Knights of the Round Table The Metamorph Merlin, reference RDDBEX1118, is a limited edition of 28 built around a forest-green, architectural dial and a Merlin story told through hand-worked pink gold. The brand calls it the final chapter of its Merlin narrative; Fratello describes it as the 13th Knights of the Round Table watch. Those are each their source’s framing, rather than interchangeable edition numbering.
What is The Metamorph Merlin?
The Metamorph Merlin is an automatic Excalibur watch with a 45 mm 18K pink-gold case, a sculptural dial populated by twelve miniature knights, and a limited run of 28 pieces. Roger Dubuis presents Merlin as a white stag in the forest of Brocéliande. Its official product page calls this release “our last chapter,” while Fratello’s October 5, 2026 introduction labels it the 13th Knights of the Round Table watch.
The brand’s Arthurian narrative sets the knights at a round table as equals, embarking on adventures to right wrongs and protect the weak. That is Roger Dubuis’s storytelling for the collection, not a historical quotation.
How the dial turns Merlin into a watch
The dial is the piece’s defining feature: Roger Dubuis describes 57 blocks made with four materials and four decoration techniques. Green-coated glass, transparent glass, polished pink gold and Crystalium inlays form a layered, architectural setting around the figures. The brand’s component descriptions do not make clear how its individually listed categories map onto the stated block total, so the total is best understood as the brand’s headline count rather than a sum of those subcategories.

Twelve pink-gold knights, each approximately 6 mm tall, gather around the dial’s central arrangement. According to the brand, each figure is cast and then hand-sculpted, engraved and patinated by specialists; the work can take up to three days per knight. These are manufacturer-reported craft details, not independently audited production times.
What the case engraving depicts
The 45 mm case is made from 18K pink gold. Its middle is hand-engraved in micro-relief with a white stag and a sage holding a book. Roger Dubuis describes the stag as Merlin in transformed form and the sage as a reference to the story’s first chapter. The brand says engraving one case middle takes around 70 hours; that is its stated process estimate.
