What is the Rolex Day-Date 40 Green Emerald?
Reference 228396TEM is the name used by Deployant for a platinum Day-Date 40 with an emerald-set bezel, emerald hour markers and a diamond pavé dial. Time+Tide also identified the reference in its coverage of Mirka Federer at the 2017 Australian Open, describing emeralds on the bezel and cardinal indices, brilliant diamonds across the dial, and additional baguette markers. These are descriptions from watch-spotting reports, not independent authentication records.
Deployant reported the watch on Mark Wahlberg during an appearance on The Ellen Show. Time+Tide reported the same reference on Federer at the Australian Open. Neither report establishes ownership history or independently verifies the identity of a specific watch. Deployant’s 2017 report and Time+Tide’s 2017 report document those identifications.
Why is it associated with €430,000?
The amount comes from 2017 coverage. Nick Gould wrote in Deployant on September 7, 2017, “This watch has a price tag of €430,000!” Time+Tide described it as “said to come in at a cool 430,000 Euro.” Both are historical reported-price statements.
