Announced on April 1, 2025, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller is a new collection in 36 mm and 40 mm sizes, powered in both cases by Rolex calibre 7135 and its Dynapulse escapement. The watches combine a redesigned Oyster case, a honeycomb-motif dial and a Flat Jubilee bracelet. Rolex says Dynapulse uses rolling interactions to transmit energy more efficiently than the sliding Swiss lever escapements in its other mechanical movements; that comparison is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently established test result.
What is the Rolex Land-Dweller?
The Land-Dweller is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual collection announced in 2025. Rolex’s new-watches index dates the announcement to April 1, 2025. The collection is offered in 36 mm and 40 mm case sizes, and both use the same new-generation calibre 7135. Rolex’s launch announcement and Land-Dweller collection page provide the brand’s specifications and model details.
The launch announcement highlighted several configurations: a 40 mm white Rolesor model combining Oystersteel and white gold; a diamond-set 36 mm model in 18 ct Everose gold; and a 40 mm model in 950 platinum with an ice-blue dial. These are launch examples, not a complete statement of every configuration or what is available in every market today.
What is new about calibre 7135?
Calibre 7135 is a self-winding mechanical movement developed and manufactured by Rolex. The brand specifies a frequency of 5 Hz, or 36,000 beats per hour, and an approximate power reserve of 66 hours. Frequency describes how often the oscillator completes its cycles; it does not, by itself, establish real-world accuracy, durability or service intervals.

The movement’s headline novelty is the Dynapulse escapement. Rolex describes it as a silicon, sequential-distribution system: a transmission wheel engages two distribution wheels, which in turn activate an impulse rocker connected to the oscillator. The distribution wheels have teeth and blades arranged on the same plane, according to Rolex’s technical description.
How Rolex says Dynapulse works
In the Swiss lever escapements used in Rolex’s other mechanical movements, components slide against one another. Rolex says Dynapulse instead relies on components rolling against each other, reducing energy consumption as energy is passed from the barrel toward the oscillator. The brand also says the silicon components resist strong magnetic fields. These are Rolex’s design and performance claims; the cited manufacturer material does not provide independent comparative testing to quantify the efficiency difference or demonstrate how the watch performs under real-world magnetic exposure.

Rolex says the escapement is assembled on an external support before it is inserted into the movement. Its technical page explains that the system uses oil rather than grease for lubrication, applied in nanolitre quantities with a precision needle. Rolex states: “Because of the way this escapement functions, oil rather than grease is used for lubrication.” The brand says seven patent applications were filed for Dynapulse; an application is not the same as a granted patent.
Case, bracelet, dial and water resistance
The Land-Dweller pairs a redesigned Oyster case with a Flat Jubilee bracelet and a dial featuring a honeycomb motif. Rolex specifies water resistance to 100 metres (330 feet) for the collection. Its Land-Dweller user guide provides further use and care information.

When comparing a 36 mm and 40 mm version, the size is only one distinction. The launch configurations also show differences in case material, bezel treatment, dial and markers. Rolesor combines Oystersteel and white gold; the other examples include Everose gold and platinum. Bezel and dial details vary by configuration, so check the specific model rather than assuming every size shares the same finish.
Rolex certification and stated precision
Rolex says Land-Dweller watches carry its Superlative Chronometer certification. In the brand’s description, the movement first receives COSC certification, then Rolex tests the finished watch under its own criteria. Rolex states a finished-watch precision tolerance of −2/+2 seconds per day. This is the brand’s stated standard; it should not be read as a published independent long-term accuracy test for every individual watch.

The launch announcement also says that 32 patent applications and patents pertain to the Land-Dweller, including 18 exclusive to the watch and 16 concerning its movement. Rolex’s wording groups applications and patents together, so those figures should not be interpreted as 32 granted patents.
