The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is the simpler choice: it shows the time without a date and comes in five diameters. The Omega Aqua Terra adds a date and, in the cited 41 mm reference, higher water-resistance and magnetic-resistance specifications. Neither is a universal winner; compare exact sizes and references, then decide based on fit, functions and local availability.

Compare the exact watches, not just the collection names

These collections span different sizes and references, so a 36 mm Oyster Perpetual is not a like-for-like size comparison with a 41 mm Aqua Terra. Rolex currently lists the Oyster Perpetual in 28, 31, 34, 36 and 41 mm. The Omega figures below refer specifically to Aqua Terra 150M reference 220.10.41.21.03.002, a 41 mm steel model. Omega’s collection includes other sizes and specifications.

A recent US comparison instead considered the Oyster Perpetual 36 reference 126000 and Aqua Terra 38 reference 220.10.38.20.03.001. Its September 2026 price and availability observations are a dated snapshot, not current quotes. See Cobalt Capture’s comparison.

How to choose between them

Choose the Oyster Perpetual if you want a no-date watch

The OP keeps the dial to three hands and offers more listed case diameters, including 36 and 41 mm options. For the 36 and 41 mm models, Rolex specifies calibre 3230 and approximately 70 hours of reserve. Its published finished-watch accuracy tolerance is −2/+2 seconds per day under its Superlative Chronometer criteria. Rolex describes the collection as a chronometer wristwatch in its purest form; that is the brand’s characterization, not an independent comparative verdict.

Choose the Aqua Terra if you use a date or value the cited specifications

The 41 mm reference adds a date display, 150 m stated water resistance, and Master Chronometer certification by METAS. Omega says calibre 8900 is unaffected by magnetic fields greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss). These attributes may matter for daily convenience or exposure to strong magnetic fields, but they do not make every Aqua Terra identical: check the reference, since the figures are for this model.

Let wrist fit and clasp comfort decide close calls

Diameter alone does not establish how a watch will sit on a wrist. Try the exact reference if possible, paying attention to lug-to-lug span, thickness, bracelet drape and clasp comfort. Omega publishes dimensions for the cited 41 mm model; do not assume those measurements apply to a smaller Aqua Terra. Rolex describes Easylink’s approximately 5 mm adjustment, while the cited Omega has a butterfly clasp; the better feel is personal.

Water resistance and daily use

The manufacturer ratings are 100 m for the Oyster Perpetual and 150 m for the cited Aqua Terra. They are specifications, not a blanket recommendation for diving or any particular activity. Follow the watch’s manual and service guidance for water use, and confirm the rating and condition of the specific watch, especially if buying pre-owned.

Prices, stock and buying checks

Prices and availability vary by country, reference, dial, retailer and date. In a September 2026 US snapshot, Cobalt Capture listed the OP36 at $6,750 and the AT38 at $7,100, while reporting different street-price and stock conditions, including allocation delays for the Rolex and more immediate availability for the Omega. Those dealer-listing observations are neither current quotes nor a universal market statistic. Check same-day local written prices and availability rather than treating the snapshot as a present-day comparison.

  • Confirm the full reference, case size, dial and bracelet configuration before comparing offers.
  • Ask whether the seller is an authorized dealer; a marketplace listing alone does not establish authorization.
  • For a pre-owned watch, verify condition, service history and included warranty directly with the seller.
  • Rolex lists a five-year international guarantee. Omega’s cited US page states a five-year warranty with terms and exclusions; check the applicable regional terms.

Rolex’s 2025 release included a pistachio-dial Oyster Perpetual 41 with a redesigned case and slimmer clasp, plus lavender for the 28 mm and beige for the 36 mm. These are release-specific details, not a claim that every configuration currently has those dials. See Rolex’s 2025 release information.

Verdict

Pick the Oyster Perpetual for a clean no-date display and a broad choice of diameters. Pick the cited Aqua Terra 41 mm if you want a date, its stated 150 m water resistance, or its specified magnetic resistance. Try comparable sizes and use current local prices and stock to make the final call.
