The Rolex Perpetual 1908 in platinum is reference 52506, a 39 mm dress watch with an ice-blue guilloché rice-grain dial and Rolex calibre 7140. Rolex’s US product page lists it at $33,600 USD; Monochrome reported a launch price of EUR 31,300 on 9 April 2024. Those are separate market- and date-specific figures, not interchangeable price quotes.
What is the platinum Rolex Perpetual 1908?
Reference 52506 is the platinum version of the Perpetual 1908. Its polished 39 mm case combines a domed and fluted bezel with a domed transparent case back treated with anti-reflective coating. The crystal is scratch-resistant sapphire.
The model is a relatively formal, time-only design: central hours and minutes, with a small-seconds display at six o’clock. Its leather strap closes with a platinum Dualclasp double-folding clasp.
What makes the ice-blue dial distinctive?
Rolex describes the dial’s decoration as a guilloché rice-grain motif. The repeating, three-dimensional geometric pattern extends from the small-seconds counter at six o’clock and forms a rosette-like design. A guilloché filet sauté frames the minute track. The dial also has Arabic numerals at 3, 9 and 12, faceted hour markers and matching hands.

The US product page specifies a matt black alligator-leather strap. Monochrome’s 9 April 2024 launch report described matte brown or black alligator options, both with green calfskin lining. Strap descriptions therefore depend on the source and market; the US page’s listed configuration is black.
Calibre 7140: functions, reserve and precision
The watch is powered by Rolex-manufactured calibre 7140, a self-winding mechanical movement with bidirectional winding. It provides central hours and minutes, small seconds and a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. Rolex specifies a Syloxi silicon hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers.

Rolex rates reference 52506 water-resistant to 50 metres (165 feet). That specification does not make the leather-strapped watch a dedicated dive watch; its design and stated water resistance are best understood as those of a dress-oriented model rather than a specialist for underwater use.
