How much did Rolex prices rise in January 2022?
There was no single increase for every Rolex. The reported change depended on the market, reference, material and collection. The figures below compare selected retail list prices before and after the January adjustment; they should not be combined into a worldwide average.

The US examples and average come from Professional Watches’ January 2022 report. The UK figures are from WatchPro’s January 5, 2022 report. The euro range and category pattern were reported by Time+Tide, citing WatchAnalytics. The euro result applies to the references analyzed, not the entire Rolex catalog.
Why were steel Rolex models especially affected?
January coverage described a pattern, not a rule that every steel watch rose more than every gold watch. WatchPro said the most popular, supply-constrained steel models received considerably larger increases than equivalent precious-metal models. Time+Tide’s euro analysis likewise characterized many professional models as rising close to 10%, while classic models generally saw smaller changes.

That distinction matters: “steel” alone does not determine an increase. A comparison is meaningful only when it accounts for the same market and currency, the exact reference and generation, and the model’s material and collection. Retail list-price changes also say nothing by themselves about secondary-market asking prices.
Which comparisons need extra caution?
The UK no-date Submariner figure is not like-for-like
WatchPro reported a UK no-date steel Submariner comparison of £6,300 to £7,150, or 13.5%. However, the earlier price was for an older 40 mm model; the Submariner had been relaunched in 2020 as a 41 mm model. That percentage therefore compares different generations and should not be treated as a clean increase for the same reference.

Regional figures are not directly interchangeable
The US dollar, UK pound and euro reports cover different references and samples, and may reflect different local pricing and tax treatment. The euro range is specific to WatchAnalytics’ analyzed set. Adding these figures together or using them to calculate one global Rolex increase would be misleading.
Did Rolex raise prices again later in 2022?
A 2024 WatchPro retrospective reported that Rolex raised prices twice during 2022. WatchPro linked the adjustments to inflation, margin maintenance and currency disparities; that is the outlet’s explanation, not a confirmed statement from Rolex. The available reporting does not establish a complete model-by-model schedule for the second adjustment, so its scope should not be generalized across all references or markets. What the 2022 increases do—and do not—tell buyers
The reported figures document changes to retail list prices in specific markets. They do not establish today’s authorized-retailer prices, current availability, resale values or investment returns. Anyone comparing a present-day offer with a 2022 figure should first verify the exact reference, generation, condition and whether the price is a retailer’s list price or a secondary-market asking price.
The January 2022 evidence supports a clear but limited conclusion: Rolex raised prices, and many steel professional models had conspicuously larger reported increases than many classic or precious-metal counterparts. It does not support a single percentage for every Rolex or a complete account of both adjustments across the worldwide catalog.
