How does the green bezel fit the Submariner’s history?
The 126610LV was not the first green-bezel Submariner Date. Rolex’s history page says reference 16610LV marked the model’s 50th anniversary in 2003 with a green anodized aluminium bezel insert. Rolex also dates the arrival of a Cerachrom bezel insert on the Submariner Date to 2003. The 2020 126610LV combines the green color with a ceramic Cerachrom insert.

The useful distinction is material and reference: the 16610LV’s green insert was anodized aluminium, while the 126610LV’s is green Cerachrom ceramic. Both are green-bezel Submariner Date references, but they are different generations.
What do the bezel and Glidelock do?
Rolex describes the bezel’s 60-minute scale as a way to monitor underwater time. The brand says the Oyster case is guaranteed waterproof to 300 metres and that Glidelock allows approximately 20 mm of bracelet adjustment in roughly 2 mm steps, making it possible to wear the bracelet over a diving suit up to 3 mm thick. These are Rolex’s stated specifications and intended uses, not independent dive-test results.
