The Rolex Submariner Hulk 116610LV and Seiko Prospex SLA019 both pair a green dial with a green bezel, but they take that color—and the dive-watch brief—in different directions. The Seiko is larger, thicker and a numbered limited edition inspired by Yakushima’s cedar forests; the Rolex is more compact on the published dimensions. Both are rated to 300 metres. This comparison concerns the historical 116610LV, not today’s green-bezel Submariner 126610LV, which has a black dial.
How do the Hulk and SLA019 greens compare?
Green is the shared visual hook, not a guarantee that the watches look alike in person. Seiko described the SLA019’s dial and bezel as a “deep green” reflecting “the lush tones of the ancient cedar trees on the island of Yakushima.” Its 2018 announcement gives the color a landscape inspiration, rather than presenting it simply as a bright accent.
In Fratello’s 2018 comparison, reviewer Michael Stockton found the Seiko’s green darker than the Hulk’s in some lighting, sometimes appearing almost black. That is an observer’s impression, not a standardized color measurement: lighting, reflections, viewing angle and photographs can all affect how either watch reads. If shade is the deciding factor, inspect the exact watch under more than one kind of light rather than relying on a single product image.
The Hulk is the Rolex reference 116610LV, introduced in 2010 according to the 2018 Fratello comparison. Rolex’s earlier green-bezel Submariner, reference 16610LV, used a black lacquer dial and green anodized aluminum bezel; the Hulk’s all-green dial-and-bezel combination gives it a different visual balance. Which watch is bigger, and how might that affect fit?

On these published measurements, the SLA019 is wider, thicker and slightly longer lug-to-lug. That suggests more physical presence, but dimensions alone do not establish how a watch will fit: wrist shape, bracelet adjustment and personal preference matter, and the cited comparison does not provide a standardized wrist-fit test. Anyone choosing between them should try the exact watch on if possible, paying particular attention to the Seiko’s 15.4 mm height.

Both are serious dive watches by their stated depth ratings, but the 300 m figures do not make their construction or intended-use descriptions identical. Seiko specifically identifies the SLA019 as a saturation diver’s watch. Its official specifications also list a screw-down crown, zirconia ceramic bezel, coated stainless-steel case and bracelet, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m. The 2018 comparison identifies the Hulk’s green Cerachrom bezel.

The published reserve figures differ by two hours, with the SLA019 listed at 50 hours and the Hulk at 48. These are stated specifications, not a comparison of measured performance or movement accuracy. The available figures also do not establish the condition of any particular pre-owned example.
What do you get with the Seiko’s bracelet and strap?
Seiko’s release specifications say the SLA019 was supplied with a stainless-steel bracelet and a silicone strap. Fratello’s reviewer commented on the watch’s height and bracelet and clasp, but those comments are personal evaluation rather than laboratory measurements. The cited sources do not provide directly comparable clasp-adjustment details for both watches, so they do not support a precise adjustment-feature winner.

For an individual purchase, check which accessories are actually included, especially for a pre-owned watch. The original package description does not confirm that a specific listing still has both the bracelet and strap.

Seiko announced the SLA019 as a numbered limited edition of 1,968 pieces. Its March 2018 announcement gave an original approximate European recommended price of €3,200. Fratello reported a historical German retail price of €8,200 for the Hulk in its September 2018 comparison. These figures refer to different brands’ historical European pricing contexts; they are not current resale estimates or a reliable direct measure of present-day value.

For current context only, Rolex’s US product page displays $11,900 for the different, current reference 126610LV. That is a US product-page price accessed on 2026-10-08, not the price of the discontinued 116610LV and not a like-for-like comparison with the 2018 European figures. Rolex dates the current Submariner redesign to 2020 and identifies calibres 3230 and 3235 in the current line on its Submariner history page. The current US listing for reference 126610LV specifies a 41 mm case, green ceramic bezel and black dial. Neither source establishes the Hulk’s current pre-owned market value or availability.
Which one makes more sense for you?
- Choose by color: The SLA019’s official Yakushima cedar inspiration and the Hulk’s all-green presentation are distinct starting points. Because observed shade changes with lighting, compare real examples rather than assuming photographs are conclusive.
- Choose by size: The 40 mm by 12.5 mm Hulk is the smaller set of published dimensions; the SLA019 measures 44.3 mm by 15.4 mm. Treat these as fit clues, not a guarantee of comfort on your wrist.
- Choose by stated specifications: The SLA019 is listed with calibre 8L35 and a 50-hour reserve; the 2018 Hulk comparison lists calibre 3135 and 48 hours. Both are rated to 300 m, with Seiko explicitly identifying saturation-diver water resistance.
- Choose with reference clarity: The Hulk in this comparison is 116610LV. Rolex’s current green-bezel Submariner is 126610LV, with a black dial; it is not the all-green Hulk.
Both models are historical references in this comparison: the Seiko was a limited release, and the Hulk 116610LV has been superseded by a different current reference. Current pre-owned stock, prices, seller reputation and authenticity are not established by the cited model specifications. Before buying, confirm the exact reference and assess the specific watch’s condition and service history with a trustworthy seller or qualified watch professional.
